    PCV valve

I have currently blocked my PCV valve off and I am just thinking now why do people block them?

is it better to have the PCV valve or not?

The PCV valve is there to allow air to be sucked into the plenum on vac when the car is idling.

You need to block the PCV valve if your breathers are not connected to the AFM...usually this is when someone has fitted a catch can and is venting to air.

Failure to do so will result in unmetered air being drawn into the plenum under vacuum and it will run lean at idle.

If you do block the PCV (on a CA, think its the same on an SR) then there will be no natural means to get air into the plenum so it will try to pull through the closed butterfly opening or the auxilliary air functions.

The usual way to counter this is to adjust the throttle butterfly so it doesn't close properly.

Its a lot of mither to fit a catch can.
