    Ca18det running on 3 cylinders

So I've been spark plugs gapped at .8mm checked coil packs did the usual swapping ect misfire continues on cylinder closest to fan ,, plug in siad cylinder is wet and stinks of fuel. I'm thinking it could be my dropping resistor has anyone got a fully working one or is there other things I can try ...... Cheers.

Compression fine it's sat a while to be fair but was running sweet before. How would one test injector?

Run a wire from battery to injector briefly if you find my old thread there's I write up on it using resistors from maplins as a temp fix

Just as testing only not a permanent fix and not advised for long periods

Multi-meter and FSM. You can test everything. To test the injectors just plug them to a 12v source like the car battery and see if they click. You may also want to test continuity between the injectors pins, they may be corroded and sometimes miss the signal.

I've got a spare working dropping resistor, full set of working coil packs and a spare set of cleaned and refurbed injectors - none of which I want to let go or sell, but which you are welcome to swap in / swap out for testing purposes if you can make it all the way down here to Surrey.... pm me if you're up for it.

Good luck one way or the other

If the dropping resistor was bad wouldn't all the plugs be wet?

If a resistor fails it would most likely be open circuit and then no volts arrive at the injector and it won't open.

Dropping resistor is easy to test with a multi-meter.

Unplug ECU, test for a short on the loom between injector and ECU. Again you need a multimeter.

A bit of a weird one, but I had an issue where I lost the cylinder closest to the firewall. Tested/swapped things over, and after a lot of head scratching and reading forum posts, I found it was the ECU not bolted in tight enough. I believe it uses a mounting bolt as an earth or something. A quarter turn more of the bolt by the wires and everything was fine again.

No, not if it's the resistor for that injector only that's failed (they don't all fail at the same time, generally).
