    Modern day 200?

So, I sold my 14a 7 years ago now and although never really regretting it i still sort of missed looking at it

For the last 10 months I have been driving around in a Ford Edge in an attempt to grow up but it didnt work I still enjoy shows and not having a car to take meant last year I had no interest in going So this year I decided it was time for another interesting car, i was going to return to Focus STs as they are good all rounders however I managed to get a deal on something that is virtually a modern day 200.............

    2 door coupe - check
    4 cyl turbo - check
    RWD - check
4 pot front calipers - check
Rear seats you cant use - check

    Then you add in

    Climate seats
    Rear camera
    12 speaker stereo
    4 driving modes
Track apps (0-60, 1/4 mile, 100-0, g-meter, lap timer etc)

it brings it bang upto date

Yes I know its not a V8 blah blah blah but I really dont care, this is a better drivers car and gives twice the MPG nearly especially with the diving I do. If i lived in the states where its $2 a gallon and all the roads are straight the V8 is the one A quick remap gives it the same torque as a V8 anyway

Better pics to follow when it stops fecking raining

Very nice Mark. I do like these. Maybe we can do a FNF drag down the A127 before I leave at the end of the week, ha!

FWIW even alot of people in the states buy the EcoBoost model, plenty of bolt-on mods for it as well.

Some people say the stock suspension is abit soft on them (as the 200 was), or is that what your old bones need now Mark?

I love it and really, take away the mustang name and that's the only thing that makes you want it to be a V8. Modern times and all.

    So when you remapping it?

Looks really nice and I bet it goes ok too.

Probably a bit heavy for a modern 200 and a bit too well known. Still an awesome choice though and glad you have decided you have not died yet

I'm thinking a M235i is the closest I can find to a modern 200, due to tuning potential...don't look as good as either S14a or Mustang though.

While i quite like the mustang turbo its far far far far far to heavy to be a 200 replacement, same with the 235i which while great is also carrying round a shit load of kilos.

Hence why i went with the 5, its light as fook and that counts for far more than turbo HP.

    Why not the M135i or M140i ??

Technically the S13 was a hatchback

Completely different body shapes and market though. I'd have said the S13 was a fastback coupe.

M135i would be more like Sunny GTi-R.

Given it had to be a Ford, its a fcuk of a sight better than a (W)edge(y) lol.

Isn't a GT86/BRZ or maybe the new Alpine the closest to a 200 replacement ? It would be if they'd put a feckin' turbo in the Subaru as standard anyway.

If the Alpine was 10K cheaper it would be anyway.

Problem with a GT86 is you have to throw 10k at it to get it to stage 3 200sx equivalent, the turbo package, then uprate clutches, fuel systems, then brakes, suspension, add on the 12k purchase cost and you may as well get a 911 for 20k.

Apparently on Top Gear Harris, claimed the new Stang is a flat planed crank, so will sound like a 4 cylinder anyway.... yet it didn't.... it sounded like a cross plane

    I knew it.

I'm glad the Focii and Mondeii were a temporary wobble. Those threads by Mark never did read quite right. It felt a bit wrong and dirty when reading them.

EDIT: Just read the top post again. I didn't even know about the Edge :eww:

I was asked the other day what i would be looking at when my pcp deal ends in just over a year..
Well.. err there is SFA really.
Ok if i want a hothatch your taken care of, the civic is good but ugly and the new megan will be out by then. Both scrabble and i really dont want that.
The Alpina is far to expensive.
The GT86 is far to slow, its slower than my 5.
I dont really want 4wd as thats for puffs and... well a boxster or cayman are too much, the BMs are far to heavy (and i have had one, did not think it was great) and expensive for what you get.

    So.. er...
