    Which oil to use

Hi all going to be getting the s14 out of the garage soon and since buying back in September last year and only covering 130 miles since(most of that was the drive home from purchasing lol) I’m going to be changing the oil and filter but which oil would you recommend?
    Many thanks Matt

I wouldn't sweat it too much mate. Any decent fully synthetic 5-40, 5-50 or even 10-50 will be fine. Find the best deal on anything around that range.

I went with this for my last change https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-114466-...ngine-oil.aspx

Had this before but it's overkill for just a road based car I've been told, hence the change to the one above

I do a couple of trackdays a year and have always used 5w 40 millers nanodrive technology. Not bad price from opieoils.

It's OK but there's always better for similar bucks.

If not going to an ester racing marketed oil ( only ever 10-20% group 5 ester content ) I'd go for a 5W40 VW 505.01 spec .

Fuchs took over from Castrol to produce the Quantum oils in doing so reformulated so a tiny bit thicker etc ( a grade has around a 4 unit range ).

I’m sure there is better but it fine for a weekend toy car that does like 2k a year and seems to get changed twice a year

Only ever run fuchs titan race 10w50. Previous owner ran it, so stuck with. Bit costly but buy when opie have offers on :-) done nearly 80k over 6 1/2 years of owner ship, daily hdev stage 2a, no vvt rattle, still sounds quite and smooth, the only tappy noise is the nismo 555's

    Hi Matt,

Is the S14 Standard? If its standard than I would use a 5w-40 synthetic and you will find those through the link below.

    http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT+, Motul Sport/300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Castrol Edge/Magnatec, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives

If its modified heavily for example running 350Bhp+ than a good 10w50 would be the more suitable choice.

As for the filter, ive added it below.

Car is currently stage 1a tuned but in April it’s getting a custom map and supporting mods so say 350bhp, you reckon 10w 40w then??

    Hi Matt,

In that case, a 10w50 would be the better choice.

They are all really good oils to pick from and any of them will be fine for it.
