    Garrett gtx3071r

I'm looking to change my turbo in the near future and I was thinking of a Garrett gtx3071r gen 2 with a 63 exhaust side . My engine is a redtop sr20 det with forged internals currently a cosworth t34 with 63 housing . Anyone got any results or info with these .

My redtop had a set of poncams fitted last year , but to be honest it seems to have made no difference , though ill be changing the exhaust manifold which is a cast log type .

You need to get adjustable cam gears with the poncams im told as theyre very out in terms of degrees

I’m running that turbo, topped at 507bhp, at which point it was at 100% injector duty. That’s with procam 270’s and adjustable pulleys.

I got good gains from poncams years ago with a td06. Never changed the pulleys as I wanted to keep the vvt.

im running similar setup to drifter and made 501bhp with my gtx3071 setup, and regarding cams for what it cost id go for the procams over poncams personally. i gained 50+hp on my old td06 setup just from fitting procams.

Thanks for that , I was watching a drift guys vid and he said the exhaust cam was about 8 degrees out on the inlet side though this was pro cams also he was running a garrett gtx28 60r that made 425 hp on e85 With those figures I don't know if I'm thinking to big with turbo , I was thinking closer to 400 would suit my needs better .

I have 435bhp with GT3071r-wg. So for that kind of power GTX3071 might be a bit too big...

    For 400 I'd go GTX28

If you can stump up the $$$$ for the Tial V band exhaust housing it makes things so much easier and no gaskets to worry about. Although that assumes you are using an external wastegate.

E85 will also give more power over 'regular' fuel.

Was that Adam lz? Yo can hit 400 with a smaller turbo, my 2871 ran 400 on the rollers before we settled on 387.

Yeah that was Adam LZ, my exhaust manifold is a t3 flange, would the gtx3071r be much more laggy than the gtx2860r , also would I need bigger cams to run the bigger turbo .

just google image search for dyno graphs.
tbh I have similar power goals and decided that when I bite the bullet im going for a BorgWarner 7163. it will piss 400hp and come on song sooner than a garrett of the same size.
