It’s that time of year again where pillarless doors are freezing shut
I’ve always got with de-icer on the lower rubber and terrified pulling at the door and hope for the best
What is your preferred approach or ways to prevent it ?

having a garage helps :-)
BMW Z4 guys all use this stuff https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gummi-Pfleg.../dp/B007TNOQDI
I thought Vaseline ate away at rubber ?
It’s alright for some isn’t it Dan lol I had a choice workshop/no garage on no workshop/garage
Might order a stick of that stuff as my windows squeak a little aswell so should help that aswell
I usually just poor some warm water over the top of the window on the Passat to get to free off. When I unlock it and the glass doesn't drop I don't bother trying to open the door. That said I might try that stick thing to save some agro, as long as I can get in the ****er I just leave it running to defrost.
If the Silvia does are frozen shut, it doesn't move
WD-40 will definitely swell the rubber. Vaseline probably will. Once swollen it will be more likely to tear.
Use red rubber grease or treat with ag rubber and vinyl cleaner.

Don't for God's sake use Vaseline, once its on there it will almost never leave and, although it helps to stop sticking the door shut, when it starts to warm up you will find yourself becoming a close acquaintance with it for the rest of the year.
Vaseline stains on the side of your coat, sleeve and other bits and pieces as you get in and out of the car for six months more... I still have the stains to prove it.
Personally I use windscreen defrosting spray, open the door, hold a cloth behind the seal to prevent overspray and then run around the seal spraying with the stuff. Then close door on it. Works for me, tho you need to renew it every week or so to remain effective.
You also get funny looks from the young fit birds on the tills at the supermarket when buying tubs of Vaseline.

Tyre Gel on the seals. It keeps them lubed. Or believe it or not KY Jelly
