Where's a good place to get a garret gt2871r rebuilt? Also how much might it cost?

I don’t think Owen offer a CHRA rebuild service (on BB units) , you’ll probably have to buy a complete CHRA which last one I bought one was around £700
They rebuilt mine mate

https://youtu.be/h68Z5DpITgs this is what it sounds like at idle

Doesn't sound great, best bet is to take the pipework off and wiggle the wheel

not worth fixing just buy a new one and keep that for spares. you could always buy it without the rear housing to save cost if that is an option.
https://youtu.be/fUMJJOB7UBc kinda hard to show but you can hear it, started it without the intake on too see but doesn't make the same sounds as when intake pipe is on in other video, only hear it spinning not like it's hitting the housing

In my honest opinion, i would say there is nothing wrong with your turbo. its just charge resonance!
The turbo is spinning just enough to produce a few millibars of pressure, but the throttle plate is closed so there is a kind of pressure resonance in the pipework and intercooler, if you drop the idle by 100rpm or open the throttle slightly does it stop?
Whenever I've driven it for a bit getting on boost then letting it idle I don't think it makes the noise and whenever I turn he car off I can hear it spinning still but it's just the bearing spinning not like the hitting noise in the video

Have you tried turborebuild.co.uk ?
They started thier buisiness on this very forum many moons back rebuilding 200sx turbos, now they rebuild turbines from all over the world from a small KS03 upto rolls royce jet turbine engines. And seeing as SXOC is where it began for them they do an awesome discount for SXOC members.
Give them a bell.
