to change the ball joints you really need a press.

    the guide is basically.
    remove gaint Circlip
    press out old ball joints.
    apply heat if stubborn
    press in new ball joints
    refit circlip

if you don't have a press then you can angle grind the lower socket out then hack saw the sleeve out, but then you are in a world of pain trying to wack the new ball joints in.

for the bushes I would just burn them out.
put them in the garden in an old steel pan then spray something flammable on them till the rubber catches fire then wait for them to burn all the rubber away. finding a stick that fits in the centre of the bush and giving it a wiggle helps free them off. I guess you could chuck them in a BBQ after you had finished cooking ya burgers.

The ball joint sounds like a bugger.

Any tips on where to get the bushes and ball joint?

the thing you have to watch is that most places that stock replacement ball joints have the wrong ones on the shelf.

S13 and S14 balljoints are different, some places can get em mixed up.

Also worth checking if your lower arms are bent at all, after 20 years of being bashed around so many are.

Also if your fitting steel bushes i.e stock ones you need to stop the lower arm from splaying open when the bush goes in. The arm is an open channel and as the bush is pressed in it can distort the arm.

I used a block i thick between the two sides to stop it doing this, youll see what i mean when you get the old one out.

If your going for polly bushes I think you leave the metal tube in the arm so just need to get rid of the rubber and steel core and I think I'd leave the ball joints to someone with a press as it doesn't look very good if the new ball joints are covered in hammer marks
I bet a decent bench vice could work though ive never done ball joints in a vice but have done smaller oem type bushes
