    Nissan s13 ca18

Hi All, wonder if anyone can shine some light on my situation.

My cars threw a fault up, smoking real bad. People have recomened to do some things, one of them was to clean out the maf sensor. I whipped the sensor out, started the car with it out seeing if it cured my problem. Put the sensor back in, and now my car does not want to rev over 2k and keeps bogging out when I attempt to rev.

Have I blown some sort of use or have I just destroyed my maf sensor by starting the car with the sensor out?

    Many thanks

Without the maf the car won't rev above 2k. It cuts out iirc. Have you cleaned the mad and put it back in?

I haven't tried revving the car without It plugged in only in. I've used brake cleaner from a distance to clean the plug connectors and actual sensor.

    Still didn't cure

If im not mistaken cant break cleaner do more harm? i have always user carb cleaner for the MAF and was told that break cleaner will cause all sorts of trouble?

Could be complete crap but thats what i was told.

Have you got another MAF you could try?

O was told brake cleaner left a film but apparently after a big debate i was wrong.

Still always use carb cleaner tho.

And still stand by my word that some brake cleaners leave a film! Never spray from less than 6 inches away

Sounds like a duff wire or something on the MAF connector.
The engine won't rev past 2K if the maf isn't connected, or if there's a wiring issue with the MAF itself.

    MAF failure is uncommon.

Thanks for the advice. My car was running sweet as a nut, I whipped it round the block first and was fine. The moment I took the maf sensor out it started playing up. I have power going to the maf sensor but haven't got the knowledge to actually test the maf sensor itself....

    Getting anoyying now lol
