    Garage flooring...

The carpet on my garage floor needs replacing.

Anyone got an good suggestions for a floor covering that is hardwearing, gentle on the knees and cheap ?

I'll be rolling bikes and cars in and out of there regularly but not "commercially"-frequently. Just one, once a day sort of thing.

Been looking at office tiles but that's going to be 3-400 quid

Garage is 5.5m by 5.5m by the way.

Just had a look on screwfix. This seems reasonable.

I saw this "Ecotile PVC Interlocking Floor Tiles 2m Dark Grey 8 Pack" and thought* of you! http://www.screwfix.com/p/ecotile-pv...y-8-pack/85464

They look good and will cover your whole floor with surplus. Worth going into screwfix and ask them if you can see/feel the product

His garage is 30m2 and this covers 2m2. it would cost him over £1000 to use that stuff

I've found a website called online carpets that do a light grey short pile carpet for £3 a metre. That's less than a ton for the 30m I need. I've ordered a free sample but reviews for it are from people who've used it to line garages and horse boxes as well as bedrooms lol. Still open to other ideas though....

I was looking at these when I was doing mine, but was a bit silly when I needed 130m2. But it's only £173 to do your garage, maybe worth a look?

I personally just have a bunch of these and put them down where I sit and got some rugs and bits of carpet i can put down on them too. They're nice and soft to sit on but I can't comment on knees since I never find myself working on my knees. I initially got them so I could put my wheels face down on them without scratching so I could wash them.

Your garage is 130m2 ? 10mx13m That is like 4x a double garage That's an industrial unit !

That's a better price than I found for those mats so thanks for that

Yeah mate it is a unit actually but I still wanted it nice/comfortable and my floor wash shocking when I got it! No way I could've worked on cars as it was so had to look in to flooring options when I took it over

    The old rough floor

Then my only option was latex and paint

It's not too bad to work on, but again don't spend much time on my knees in there, mainly on my back or stood up

When I *eventually* get round to rebuilding my garage I will be doing a metallic resin floor. It's hard wearing, oil and water resistant, looks great and should last for years.

Trouble is, time. I've been trying to get this sorted for two years now but just haven't had the time to get around to doing anything about rebuilding my garage.

The resin floor admittedly isn't going to be easy on your knees but it will be tough enough to roll a creeper around on it.

Go into your local family carpet business and ask what they have out the back in the way of industrial carpet. We got half of our studio carpet replaced with industrial resistant to everything smart charcoal carpet for just over 50 notes. Ideal
