    What grease for cv joints

I need to get some grease for some drive shafts I'm about to fit I washed the white runny stuff out but have now realised all I can find is the thick black moly grease

Does anyone know what the white/runny cv grease is called

    Thanks

if you try and get it from nissan I think you will call it expensive?,comma molybendium (what I call CV grease) will do,
used it for yonks on countless cv's never an issue, good for most jobs
not convinced the nissan stuff is that good tbh, micra's primera's etc around the same age could get noisy cv's at low miles

Its mix of lithium grease and gear oil, went threw this when I did mine. I used white lithium grease and slightly thinned it with gear oil.

A lot of high end cars like porsches use a similar stuff

playing with thick grease is bad enough,if it's runny I can just see a big mess and everything is coated in it ,

The drive shafts are off the car so can do it in the garage so shouldn't be too messy

Its not too bad if you have the gaiter attached at the small end and have the shaft in a vice you just pour it in from the top

Also how much do you put in I notice a lot of the cv joint grease packs are 50ml but that seems like very little

Yes the stuff I got was very simular, I think the manual tells you how much to use, I gathered up how much there was out of one of the joints and adding a bit. From memory it was about 3/4 of a cup full.

50ml is just to top a joint up when a new boot is fitted, they take more if you have cleaned it all out etc

The stuff is called liquid or semi liquid grease and its generally lithium soap based if that helps
