Have you not thought about doing the VAG coilpack conversion?

I run this setup on my SR and have had no issues and I'm my opinion is a worthwhile conversion.

Just a matter of buying a spare loom if you don't want to modify your own. Some soldering skills, a bit of wire and 4 VAG coil packs which you could get for under 100 quid.

So 200 if you bought another loom, wire, a soldering iron etc.

100 max if you have stuff and use it own loom.

Even if you spend 200 it's a worthwhile investment as the coil packs are reliable, a much better modern design and cost 30 quid or less to replace should they go wrong.

Split fires for example are 140 odd quid each should one fail !!!

Oh and the fact the ones in the link are from China. If they fail then what do you do?

Only thing I don't like about the vag conversion is you can't keep the coil pack cover

You can if you use the black shorter coils.

Have you actually tried this as I'm quite tempted to go this route if I can keep the coil pack cover

If so do you have a link to the actual coils you used ?

Now your asking something Lol! When I did mine I checked on here and various other forums. Actually there is a guy on here who makes the looms. I am sure it was him who said you can use the black ones. Let me see if I can find the thread.

    Your link don't work.

Here is the thread I was talking about. This guy makes the looms and clearly has done his homework.

VAG loom is so easy to make.
    Get the plugs from VEMS
    Coils from Awesome GTi
Then wire as so, pin 1-12v, pin 2-Earth, pin3-Signal, pin 4-Earth.
Remove the ignitor, bridging wires (ignore the thick black wire in the connector with 5 wires, just tape it off)
    Easy as ****

Well put bud! All the threads make it out to be more complex than it is. The most important bit is getting the wires and pins correct. Everything else is child's play

Just needs a little time and patience.
