Already emailed them at the start..... Did it thinking about how many people have suffered the same fault, and land rover allowing vehicles to keep breaking when it could be sorted at belt change very cheaply.

It's a phenomenal let down imo

    Well it's beaten me...

The final straw was trying to get the power steering pump off, it has 3 holes in the pulley to line up with the 12mm bolts - and only my 10mm socket fits through the hole.

They really are a massive piece of shit when it comes to working on them at home.

I am positive that some parts have been made especially difficult to make sure they get repeat business in the warranty department and the person who signed off on the wheel nuts needs a dose of scabies.

It's getting broke or sold as is, as it is a discovery I'm sure it would stop moving under its own power a week or two after fixing and I don't want to work on one of these again.

Time to try again for a 4x4 that can tow 3.5t and be comfy... Quite like the look of a l322 range rover - equally as unreliable, but at least it can be worked on like a normal car

That range rover you like the look of has annoying wheel bolts too. I have yet to work on one which just one socket for the stupid bolts. Also they are harder to work on than the average car, trust me unfortunately the garage I work at has lots of customers with them. As above I would suggest something simpler.

Done a few Japanese 4x4 now, the current terrano is very rapidly returning to nature.

I couldn't fault my hilux surf, but it wasn't the most comfy.

I don't mind cars that are difficult to work on so long as they are not impossible without a ramp

Have you tried a 1/4 drive 12mm socket? They have thinner walls.

Otherwise its down to the tool shop to get a thin wall socket with the required reach.

Tried every size I have (3 most common)

To be honest I've spent 4 weekends now and it's progressing so slow I just can't invest the time.

I need the driveway space for the working car and my 2yr old daughter is missing playtime.

I originally expected a 2 weekend turnaround to have it out - then a week or two rebuild followed by a couple of weekends back in....

But I'm only about 60% into it after a month - it's just a time thief I can't commit too.

They should be 10mm heads If not just take the pulley off first.

Definitely 12mm spanner fits on the one I can get too with the pulley in place.

Does the pulley just pull off? I don't have any pullers anyway, but can borrow some.

I have really lost all motivation with it now tho, hit home when the dog died last week and I spent the day before passing round with this when I should have been out on a walk with the kid/dog/Mrs

I have totted up the bits on ebay and it looks like it would break 8k easily - but I can't even find the arsed to start.

I'm thinking £3250 would be a fair price given all the new or nearly new parts fitted.

Does that sound reasonable to you guys?

Wouldn't fancy a swap for an 80 series landcruiser?

Hopefully it's getting collected tomorrow by a specialist breaker from the owners forum.....

How much are you after for the land cruiser?
