so..... after swearing off the green oval many years ago, certain I would never - ever- ever own a discovery again, after the woes of TD5 ownership and the tin worm disaster that was my 300tdi..... even the 200tdi I had first was a pain... I have gone and bought a Disco 3
best part is.... its a non starter!!
but it was increadibly, and I mean seriously cheap '57 reg HSE with leather/tv/harmon kardon terrain response etc etc.
I have receipts to show in the last 2 yrs it's had:
both EGR valves replaced
new discs and pads all round
prop centre bearing
lower suspension arms all round
air suspension struts all round
suspension compressor
Alternator
rear door lock mech
battery
front & rear wheel bearings
Gearbox XYZ switch
4X Cooper AT tyres
cambelt at 105K
It's very clean inside and out and it would be a shame to break it (although this is what I plan if the repair involves any kind of engine out)
now onto the issue it just cranks, sounds really good, as if there is no mechanical issue and spins over nice and fast.
there are no dash warning lights, glow plug lamp comes on and off as it should
no signs of immobiliser issues (red security light goes out)
looking round the internets it seems to suggest the low pressure pump may be to blame, or even a cheap derv filter causing a air lock.
the lads in our garage at work are betting on a leaky injector or crank angle sensor...
any other ideas?
thanks in advance
