    Exhaust manifold heat shield.

I've had a bit of an issue with my exhaust manifold causing the paint to bubble on my bonnet and now I'm having the car fully resprayed would like to find a solution

Are there any exhaust heat shields available on the market? I've seen heat shields for the ABS system but need something to prevent the temperature of the bonnet directly above the manifold rising. I've already tried some aluminium reflective foil on the underside of the bonnet which made no difference. The manifold was previously wrapped which had no effect either

Has anyone else had a similar issue and found a solution?

Ceramic coating, I don't run a heat shield after having mine coated by Zircotec. It's not the cheapest option but it's the best option by far

I think it was around £280 for a APW (wardy88) tubular manifold including shipping back to you

You could try getting a peice of stainless steel and tiger sealing it to the underneath of the bonnet where it's being effected but make sure you use enough glue to leave an air gap between the stainless and the bonnet

Are you sure it's the heat causing it and not a defect in the paint prep as when mine was wrapped I could touch the manifold with my hands for a very short time

My manifolds an aftermarket one and hasn't been wrapped which i think is causing the issue.

I've just read up on magma manifold wrap so I'm debating trying that stuff first.

One thing with ceramic coating I don't think it's very durable on a used manifold

OEMs use something similar to this stuff which is moulded around the turbine housing, manifold and cat bricks as a heat shield / insulator.

The same place offers an insulating wrap kit for turbos for a sensible amount of money.

I got something like this, but with Zircotec coating on both sides.
A dimple stainless steel sheet ceramic coated.
It acts as a stand alone heat shield.
Will try to source some photos... (as I don't have the car anymore)
