    Wheel bearing

Hi chaps, i have been through 4 front wheel bearings this year , from import car parts , any one else had any problems with them ? I an running mazda rx8 wheels on 25mm spacers , so the offset is only about 5 mm difference, i think not 100% sure , but also i have noticed there is no dust cover on the end cap of tbe bearing ?? Should there be one ? Any help will be just super

    Thanks people

Not had any experience with import car parts I try and use the local Nissan stealer for parts if there available.
I had a similar problem to this on a car years ago.

I eventually found out one of the rear calipers was binding and I didn't notice so it was sending loads of heat through.

When I changed the caliper it didn't happen again it could of been a coincidence but I think it was more than likely the problem in my case.

Ok guys it would appear, from looking at the workshop manua,l there should be a washer before the nut on the front wheel bearing, also dust caps, forgot about the manuals on here, so does any one have washers and dust caps they don't need ?? or know where to get them other than Nissan ?

    Thanks

Yeah there should be a 2-3mm thick washer with flat sides on the hole to fit against the flat sides on the stub axle. Without those washers your wheel bearings should be dead in no time at all, and I would imagine the handling would be quite exciting!

I lost one when building my car, so got a replacement from GarageD. Try them. Think they were about £12 for one.

i have import car parts wheel bearings all round on mine and not had a problem, but as you've discovered the washer and dust cap will probably be the problem.

not all s14's have the separate nut and washer setup. some just have a flange head nut (a nut with a built in washer).

If the spindle doesn't have notches then yours should have a nut and washer built in

I doubt its your wheels, a lot of people run massive spacers/mega offset wheels that are wheel bearing killers and have no problems.
