some years ago someone created a Dished version of some GTR R33 wheels, anyone know where they went?

I remember seeing a set converted into split rims (think they were on a 240Z)

A few companies popped up a while back that were messing around with Alloys, they didn't last very long though.
Welding alloy wheels isn't a great idea, I'd imagine they had quite a few customers complain their wheels fell apart.

Aren't the GTR rims magnesium alloy?? Can't see that being easy to work with.

Image used to use OEM centres to create split rims. Some of them looked very good. The Dimma 205 in the first issue of Max Power had them

for best results you would chop the required amount of dish out of the rear of a second set of wheels then weld that to the front of your chosen ones. which would be better than letting in new material.

CR Custom Wheels would probably do it for you:

I wouldnt be comfortable with welded wheels, just like banded steels. Not for me thanks.

CR Custom Wheels are nice but pricey, at least they aren't welded though

If it helps, there was a set of banded Rotas around for a good few years on the back of a twin turbo ls powered 1100+ car.

OK with steel but not with alloy. Cast Alloy needs post weld heat treatment. Your wheel welding monkey wouldn't have a clue. I don't have a clue but I have access to Aerospace process and materials specialists that do and can tell me what the fatigue deficit is for the part after welding, it's usually a factor of 10 or 20 but can be as high as 50. So if part was going to last 50 years it's now going to crack up in one.

Any damage to Forged alloy that can only be recovered by welding we scrap. I have sentenced $1m jet engine parts to become swarf as weld repair is not possible.
