Installing after market water temp. Any way to use the OEM signal wire?

I'm going to put an aftermarket water temp gauge in my car before pod on wednesday. Can I use the OEM sensor wire? or will the signal be totally wrong?

If not does anyone know the fitting size. I might try and get an adaptor from pirtek. I don't want to fit one of thoes hose chop jobbies if I can help it!

    No

The resistance of the factory sensor is on a different range.

You could replace the sensor but then you will loose the dash gauge.

Most people use a hose adapter.

    Great replys thanks guys

I like the look of the GK Tech spacer. I'm honestly thinking of just ditching the OEM gauge. Lets face it... it sucks. And I've replaced the R33 tacho and oil pressure gauge anyway

However I do it, I'll pop up a post and link here

or why they designed a fancy spacer when they could have made an elbow with an integral boss?
