how about a Subaru Legacy estate? 4wd, fairly rare, not bad to look at 2008 onwards.

the vw passat is also an option not mentioned yet.

I still can't better the Mazda 6 Sport Touring for an all round great to drive diesel estate.

10k will get you in the later model from 2012 onwards as well, go for the 173bhp Sport estate.

I was shocked and just how enjoyable they are to drive and through down a country lane as well.

Yep, BM's and Audi good, but you pay a huge premium for them and no better IMO.

It's only 70% of the way through its "normal" design life.

Yep I run a diesel estate now on 133k and the biggest issue really is how long you want to keep the car. I buy diesel estates when they have about 100k on over a few years and lose nearly all their value, but they run great. The issue is I assume I get nothing back when I want to resell, or very little, as it can be hard to shift cars with very large mileages.

only 70% ? its only 3 years old

A good buy though if you plan to keep it 5+ years and not put much more on it (10k a year)

At least it hasnt got a DMF

It's not going to implode at 190k miles... you know how things are designed you work for a bloody OEM

    3 years or 60k

Yes it wont implode but it will be worthless, people get massively hung up on mileage in this country

Which is great for people like me who don't mind buying a 4 year old well serviced car with 100k miles on it as it's lost nearly all it's value

Cheers for the suggestions. That jag is lovely but out of budget.

I'm leaning towards facelift e61 335d's now. Seems like a lot better of car.

His does look good although I'd like the facelift ideally as it's got a better gearbox etc
