    GTX series are like £1400+
2871 is too big for a CA IMO. i would go no bigger than the gtx2863r with the .64 rear housing. the holset under the hx30 (HX27???) with a small rear housing would be nice if you can be arsed with the fabrication work.

depends what number you want to make and where on the rev counter you want to action to happen.

How much power could the gtx2863r push? Id like 350-400, engine has forged pistons /rods with 256 poncams... As the cars only 700 kgs response turbo is the most important thing in trying to get the power down.
Ill have a look at the Holset stuff cheers.

The GTX2867's are good for 450bhp at a push, so I'd have thought the 2863 would easily do 400bhp

    I've got a gtx2867 with a .86 housing on mine

Buy the cheapest one and spend as much as you can on boost management.

    on an SR20 the 2863 will do 360/380, the 2871r 400/420 and the 2867 420/440 *roughly.

I would guess that in a kit car you would want a nice linear power curve.

what size wheels/tyres do you have? good luck putting down 400hp on some 195 15's.

    Absolutely, Linear powercurve is key!

Are you referring to the GTX2863R above? If so which AR.

GTx2863R, GT2871R and GTX2867R ...when do these guys all come on boost?

Is there anything on the cheaper end of the scale which will hit boost and make similar power to the GTX2863R?

for tyres, 225's on the back, maybe 235's at a push.

Maybe speak to ' bernies blowers ' see if they will make you a custom turbo. I've heard his work is good and his prices decent. Although I think that £350 roller t28 will give the nice power delivery you would want for decent drive ability. The bigger the turbo the later it comes on song. An electric boost controller like a profec or gizmo would help.

I'm in the market for a similar turbo to the ones you linked so am just going through the notions.

I would of thought the 63 would do more, my mates got an s14 with the gtx2860r and managed 360bhp.

^^ that was only my vague memory figures, not gospel^^

http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/pr...rett_GTX2863R/ list it at 250 to 430. I guess it depends on what boost levels you push through them, folk say they really come alive with 20psi+

wow I just looked at the spec of the gtx2860r and the inducer wheel is a baby at 42mm

So is the gtx2860r going to be the fastest spooling turbo to get me around the 350 hp mark

Should be 46 mm, the wheels are generally the same size as the non-GTX units but with improved aero (which is why they are capable of much higher pressure ratio).

You should squeeze 350 out of a GTX2860. If I were in your position though I'd not worry about the peak output and get the smaller turbine housing and enjoy the response.

Wouldn't you be better with a supercharger if you require a linear power curve. Seems a shame to spend so much on a top of the range turbo and then not use it to it's capabilities.

^ If you could use a blower from an Audi S4 (aka Eaton TVS R1320) and rig up a controller for the bypass you can do what you like with it. They are happy up to a pressure ratio of 2.5 without issue. Efficiency isn't great up there; it'll cost you about 65hp to do it, but bearing in mind it will be blowing enough air for ~420 hp it will make some tasty numbers and be like driving a large NA.

Not sure what you'd do with the crank pulley though, I wouldn't want to put 65hp through the tiny belts that go on them.

The bypass is electronic and only wants 0-5v from memory in case anyone else is interested.
