No worse than the average S13
Coming along nicely
Not personally had any experience with acid dipping but have been strongly advised against it by a neighbour that is an experienced time served bodyshop owner!
He has just done a mk1 escort and has noticed acid weeping from seams and it's not the 1st time.
My view is that it will strip all tge protection off the insides of chassis legs, sills etc etc which isn't going to be easy to protect in future!
Do they dip it in primer or spray it?
Nothing is ever going to remove everything, inside seams etc or will it?
I am quite interested in the process.

According to my dad, it should be a 2 stage process. Dip in acid, dip in neutraliser, dip in water, dry then do metalwork repairs, repeat dipping and dip or spray primer.
Maybe he's taking it to the wrong place.

I've looked into various blasting media's like soda, shell, fines, sand but the costs are ridiculous compared to acid immersion/dipping and the blasting process won't necessarily remove underseal, sound proofing etc. Might also be more damaging generally
This is the company I'm using http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/for-cars.html
Where did you get the rear axle setup from, if you don't mind me asking.
Is it a kit specifically for the Amazon or is it a generic kit that will have to be modified to fit?
I'm in two minds as to whether to do something similar to my volvo rear end or spend a fair chunk of money on the volvo rear end and hope i don't just keep snapping driveshafts.
I got the rear set up from drags cars/parts sales page on fb. Not Amazon specific. No real idea what the diff is, we'll find out soon I suppose!
the axle could be a modified volvo 200/700 series 1030 or 1031, the ali diff plate is unusual,
there are many versions/used in loads of vehicles not just volvo
this may help ID it,as I could be miles off http://users.telenet.be/jov/opeltune...d_e/index.html
cool project btw
nice bit of wire routing under the rear seat and he left you a handy bundle of spare wire as well ,
good to see progress
More bodgejobbery
That's nothing compared to the under dash wiring and front spots. Took me ages to untangle all that shit sunday
I was going to dals this week any way, more reason to now to see this
he still share unit with the chap doing motorbikes, mopeds and all them weird things out the front of the unit?
Yes mate, same place for now
Gotta love cornflake packet gaskets !
one of the 'meh that will do' gaskets was in side the air filter as well? bless him probably took a whole weekend to do it,
good to see progress and lots of bits to sell on I guess and recoup some costs
I didn't make it down to dals this week, had a broken gear shifter cable on my yaris daily and daughter's car wheel bearing had to be done
maybe this week get to see it
