A coupe version of that, in you're preferred colour, would be awesome.

And it's only a couple of years younger than me, hmmm Autotrader time...

I like the plan, nice looking cars the coupe has a nice flowing curved line running along the tops of the wings to the rear
and they look sort of factory roof chopped (slightly),
the blown V8 with the honda melody moped front wheels as awesome as it is (cool gasser stylee) sort of screams contraption of certain death
the other pics look more usable, the estate or what ever its called could be a cool parts hack daily work wagon
or make one into a pick up? thinking solid old tank won't go all floppy when half the roof goes

There is a guy called Sveriges Hästigaste who has GTR'd his white Amazon and barring the fact he's gone an inch or 2 too big on the wheels that is what I need to aim for, even if i miss by a mile my end product will be fapping awesome. The interior is just something else.

His red wagon aint too shabby either :back:

I think looks wise externally the red one I posted and the black one on Equips is my end goal but thats going to take a long time of saving for a very professional paint job and getting the majority of the prep work done myself (Dal included). There are little things on most, if not all restored Amazons I think can be done better and I intend to do those to mine - the way people have removed the trims and joined the front bumper parts together just plain annoys me.

Finding a RHD model with all parts present is the challenge. To be fair I completely lucked into mine as it was my first actual day of serious looking and the ad popped up on a popular classic car page. Phone the guy straight away, discussed him holding onto the car for a few weeks while I am in hospital and I won't haggle him around with the price.

There are plenty available in LHD for what I think are decent prices but the cleaner, more original/restored they are the higher the price goes.
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C822649 - needs welding etc, very reasonable pricing
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C784548 - around the price ceiling in the UK i believe and well out of my budget

I'll have to pop over with the pipe (read grasshopper) and slippers

Is this not the Volvo that was successfully campaigned as a rally car back in the day? Should be a quite robust platform if so. Sure I've spotted a few of these pop up in programs like Wheeler Dealers, Jay Leno's, and Smoking Tyre, even seen a few going round the ring on EMS Nordschleife.

    Interested to see what happens

Good luck with the treatment fella. Keep thinking of the car mod details when you're bored.

I love these. Absolutely love them. Timeless design that i'm sure people in 50 years time will still be looking back and thinking what a nice car.

Mate, I got me 2wks being hooked up to machines surrounded by nurses (with questionable ethics and loose morals hopefully) that's going to give me all the dubious idea thinking time I can handle. Can anyone say heaven?

The reality will be some male nurse bearing an uncanny resemblance to Daz dying to give you an enema !

    ...Is Daz still gay?

Been a while since I've popped on SXOC, but glad to see the old faces are still here. Nice work with the choice of old car Mel... It's just over 50 years old so be easy on the old girl. If you stick with the volvo engine - this would be cool - http://www.v-performance.com/products/supercharger.html

Apart from Doc who should really know better given his motoring history I am really feeling the love for this project.

Just hope I ( the bald "team") can do it justice
