She has a name, It must be love

For her age, she drove really well, the essence of good handling character are there, but the 165 section tyres made for comedy traction moments Wing mirrors are awful though, gave up using them and just lifesaver'ed my way back.

She has a Mabel vibe about her

Mabels are always old and dependable so Mabel it is

I couldn't stop laughing for the first 30mins because of hilarity at roundabout

It could have been worse, 'she' could still have been on cross ply tyres.

    Ah, memories...

Things are starting to come together, literally

The gearbox is now in the same general vicinity as the car which is a thing. Engine will be in roughly the same place Friday as well

Had chance to poke around the car properly yesterday including getting it up on the ramp to have a look underneath. The parts list below is just a first impression of areas that are not really worth saving due to rust, shoddy repairs and cover ups.
    Outer door skins
    Both front wings
    Front panel
    Rear panel
    Floorpan
    Rear outer arches
Rear lower scalloped panels (might just go the whole hog!)
    Sills
Arches are going to be tubbed to give moar wheel/tyre clearance with a vision to going air ride in the future. Going to get some power steering sorted as well as a few other mod cons while hopefully retaining the feel/look of the car.

Going to be the last update for a while of any significance as work is to be postponed until later in the year which means no weekender for me again this year but does buy time to collect parts etc.

Door repair panels secured - £100 2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th hand??????? - in really good condition from a guy that owns a classic volvo specialist shop that does some mega chassis deals/upgrades for these things
Entire floor pan complete - £205 from http://www.classicvolvoparts.co.uk

Gonna have to, to some degree.

The aim is street cruiser not racer it just need to be solid with strengthening to the specific areas where the new/updated running gear goes.

2.52, 1.52 and 1.0 gear ratios with a 3.9 diff ratio suggests not

Should be geared enough for a decent motorway cruising speed and hopefull sub 10s 0-60 spring

    3 speed, awesome!

What size wheels / tyres are you aiming for? You'll be over 3500rpm at 70mph with that gearing.

Haven't really decided yet. No bigger than 17's with some chunky tyres.

    Long time no update.

Engine is still on a pallet
Gearbox is still on a pallet
4 link setup is still on a pallet
Rear axle with ultra shit 5x110 pcd with discs and calipers is still on a pallet
Purchased some Cayman brembos with discs, new pads and custom mounting brackets for the front - they are on a pallet
I've just purchased some new shocks and adjustable panhard bar to deal with the lowlows of the air ride kit I have also just purchased. They are all on pallets in other parts of the world.

Just need to get a few more pallets as I don't think I have enough
