    Who is afraid of spiders?

8 year old girl got bitten by a Brown Recluse spider last week in Colchester. According to pest control the house is infested with recluses and widows

    What would you do?

bad rep I would say, bites like this must be extremely rare ... i bet the media described it a "horror bite leaves innocent girl in state of absolute terror"

Spiders eat other bugs, and generally keep themselves to themselves, dont get me wrong I'm not a massive fan but will leave them to their own devises in the house if i see them. Apparently one spider will eat 2000 bugs in a year!

Because it was a brown recluse, the media do have to raise awareness. There have been instances where the bite causes necrosis and it never goes away. Multiple treatments in a hypobaric oxygen chamber for the rest of your life is nothing to sneeze at

The most disturbing thing about this thread is this post.

How the fcuk did you do it? Have you taken a zoomed in photo of a monitor? Were you trembling so much you used a webcam to stream your front wall, then took a photo of it on your phone?

    What?

    WHAT?!?!?

This is like the 'people posting screenshots of everything on their phone instead of just linking the image' issue, BUT A MILLION TIMES WORSE,
    WHAT HAPPENED HERE?!
    I can't handle this shit.

I'm going back to my friday liquid lunch,
    Ugh.

    Also, is it reading braille?

Man that's rough. The wound above wasn't caused entirely by the spider bite though.

Most spider bites shouldn't be anything a course of antibiotics can't cure. Open sores like the above are cause by the bite wound not being cleaned properly and becoming infected as a result. Necrosis sets in then leaving surgery as the only option to remove the dead tissue.

The pic above seems to be post surgery as it looks like it's healing round the edges. Will be a miserable few months for her.

Have to LOL at the Aussie attitude of auz200sx above

According to the BBC report it wasn't a brown recluse, it was only the mother thinking it was one. The only thing they found was false widows.

Either way, they all need to die

According to other reports when they interviewed the pest controller, he said he found brown recluse and false widows and thinks it was a brown recluse that bit
