    HELP!!! CA18DET ARP Head Studs

    Hello people

I'm struggling to find a socket deep enough to do the ARP head bolts up

It's a 7/16 size but it's got to be a deep / long reach and a slim socket but can't find one anywhere as they all have a little inner lip bit which isn't deep enough obviously

I'm hoping someone on here could help me as i'm starting to run out of options now

    Regards

    Caine

I ended up making one as I was pushed for time.
worst case buy one that's too fat and grind it down.

Cheers dude, the sockets I have fit in the gap but its the internal bit of the socket it's not deep enough to clear the threaded bolt for the nut to tighten down to if that makes sense

a deep Halfords 13mm(or whatever it is,, are the 1/2"??) with a bit of electrical tape inside to take up the slack. then grind down the outer edge to fit.
I know the nuts are imperial.

I have just been through a lot of pain with ARP headbolts besides the deep socket that I had to buy a set off Amazon and get it machined down to get it to fit.
The thing to be aware of is the stud over the water pump is too long. It tightens down on the thread and not the head and I kept pressurizing the water system, It was alright when the engine was cold on leak down tests. I have ended up cutting 10mm off the bottom of that stud so all the studs are now the same height.

For the socket it's American so it needs to be a 12 point 1/2 inch socket think this was the set I bought and edited

    Good luck.
