So it was less than 100k,fully serviced,no oil leaks, driven sensibly and warmed up etc, as that is a rare thing if all points are ticked
I heard of one having a gearbox fault, but no major engine issues till the above post

The only thing that'll kill a jazz engine is poor maintenance.

Another reason not to risk taking one on. You might get stuck with it !

Remember a Jazz is for LIFE not just for the day you need dog food at Tescos.

Not read the whole topic as in a rush but generally bullet proof !

Input shaft bearing in the gearbox can get noisy like the pre 2006 Civic did.
If its not got central locking off the remote the door lock barrels will fail at some point as they wear very fast for some reason.
    Servicing aint too bad tbh
Check for a water leak into the boot which will be the sealer at the back of the roof panel joint thats gone hard.
Exhausts like to rust through at the back and centre sections but thats expected with age really.

In general if its got enough poke for you and space inside you cant really go far wrong

Also the window switch recall was due to them burning out if you left the windown open in the rain (massive suprise !). At first they recalled them and added a seal to them to waterproof them but then they binned that idea with the idea of replacing the switch all together. There have been less than 10 incidents worldwide from what I last knew.

They are currently going through the Takata airbag recall so you might get a letter about that if its not had the inflator replaced yet.

Only thing i know that they need is, like a lot of Hondas, checking of the valve clearances. Other than that, it's a Honda. It'll just go on and on and on and....
My wife has had her 2004 Gen2 1.4l Jazz for about 8 years now and other than needing its rear wheel bearings changed under warranty (Its a common enough issue that Honda did it for free even though we bought the car second hand from a non-honda dealership and the car was years out of warranty - impressive) its performed perfectly. Its big enough to cart our two kids, pram and dog in comfort and has even done the odd long family road trip. Its no Mercedes but its cheap to run, reliable and comfortable. If it should ever die will likely replace it with another one
    Its gone!

I knew there was a little bit more to it ,the picture it painted was something like,,,,
we were trundling along at 25 mph to the local garden center and suddenly all the con rods and pistons exploded out the block

    just an update on this.

saw it a couple nights ago, yer em.......

both Windows were stuck (regs seemed to have gone) one headlight had a wiring issue where half of it seemed to be melted
clutch was slipping (owner was literially asking if that's why it stunk everytime she pulled away)
and it needed a full service + breaks. a couple a things I wouldn't have minded, but it would cost me a good few hundred quid to sort out and more time+effort which is what I didn't want.

shame, on the bright side it did smell pissy so I'm glad I didn't have to drive it home...
