You wont find anything branded that you know, its a very sort of... er... how can i put this... no-name market.

You dont need a remote control, a lot of them have usb ports you can attach a keyboard and mouse to - but it would make sense to get one with a remote if you dont want wires and shit hanging about.

I'd say keyboard is a must. Makes setup and navigation really easy.

I haven't had any problem with my m10 box and mate has had no troubles with his m8 but there are plenty of other options.

Just as said before these deffo need a hard line and not wifi.

I got a DroidBox not the cheapest but it's fast, never freezes and is great to use with a "Rii" keyboard/mouse pad.
The cheapest way is probably to hook up a laptop to your tv and run Kodi from that

You can put Kodi on the Amazon fire TV can't you?
It does UHD 4K apparently, and is £79.99

I've being using Kodi for some time now and it's great. I have it on my home PC, tablets and laptops. Give me an internet connection and I can watch what I like.
I've used it to play old TV series (twin peaks) and the latest shows/films and it's worked great. I have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse connected for connectionless goodness too.

    HOWEVER,

I've had to re-install it (which means re-adding the sources too) a few times, due to random crashing. Annoying at the best of times.
Lately (as in a week) I've noticed that mid-way through a film/episode I get thrown out. No error message, just thrown back to the stream choice. After some investigation turns out you need to unselect the automatic URL updater option in settings. An update for the URL updater was pushed out and it didn't work, so you have to choose the old version.
This has happened to 3 of my devices with Kodi installed, so some of you may find this out soon.

Is it a direct replacement for a TV box. My honest answer - NO.

With a TV box, you know 99.99% the box will work. From turning on, you are watching your favourite show within seconds.
With a Kodi box, as it's open-source, it could work for today, but tomorrow is another day.

Like everyone says, Kodi is great. You can get builds which do the entire set up process for you. I use Paradox Wizard on my firestick and once you've got Kodi on there it will install the repos etc for you. Here's a good tutorial if you wanted to give it a go:
