Oh man, that is going to be awesome! I think that's a good choice for that price bracket. Alternatives are possibly an m240i?? Just approaching Porsche territory but maybe not even close depending on options.

Let us know how you get on with it. It's a seriously tempting car atm, nice choice!

2/5 stars on Euro NCAP for the Mustang. 35% approval for child safety.

Reasons are no seatbelt pretensioners, insufficient inflation of airbags and a child would hit its head under the curtain airbag.

Thats said, its still safer than a 20 year old jap coupe

If I want a five star saftey rated eco friendly euro shit box I wouldn't have bought a Mustang.

Be nice if your mustang was as safe as a Euro shit box though. The reasons why it failed wouldn't effect its looks or day to day use.

While to some extent i agree however there is simply little justification thesedays for doing poorly in safety ratings.
A lot of good metal has 4 or 5 star ratings and for a new car, especially from the likes of Ford, to do a 2 is simply shocking.

Yer someone dropped a bollock for sure. Incidently it scored well in US tests but then they probably just run over a cow

You realise what it failed on right?
Mostly the drive assistance shit like brake assist and lane change avoidance that was recently introduced and the passage child saftey something silly like a sticker or label missing like the BMW had few years ago and no rear restraint. Come on its crap. Had this test been carried out 15 months ago it would have been a completely different story

I still stand by my original statement.

    It's a Mustang **** it

My mx5 scores 4 out of 5 and the reason for the last star is the lack of autonomous breaking and a couple of other minor things.
Now if a car weighing more than half a ton less with considerably less metal and built by a company much smaller than a behemoth like Ford can manage to still get a good score then its just not on.

Its a mustang, its likely stupid.

    I should do

    As I said

No seat belt pretensioners (my 93 Mondeo had those )
Air bags not inflating fully in a quick enough time
Dummy representing a 10 year old smacking its head under the curtain airbag

Yes it was also marked down for the lack of crash avoidance tech etc but if it had all the above it would have easily got 4 stars.

The facelift is due later this year/early next so that should have all the above addressed.

So you wouldn't be happier if it was safer on top of everything else you like about the car? All my cars are less safe than this but if I were paying for a new car I'd want it to be as safe as possible too.

Thing is to bring it up to about 4 stars wouldnt compromise it at all, shouldnt cost anything either.

How did they manage to miss the basics...

    Because that's not the focus
Same as BMW missed there stupid sticker thing a few years ago
2016 saw a change in the criteria of the saftey rating and there testing a car built and designed 15 months prior
Like me they really don't give two ****s as it sold faster the Muhammad running after an English passport.
    Take your pick.

Ironically some of the "saftey" tech like bind spot monitoring and adaptive cruse control is actually removed from ADM cars

Dummy representing a 10 year old smacking its head under the curtain airbag. Not like any other major company has had air bag issues lately.

    As above.

Here's the extract from the Euro NCAP report

The European variant has seen only those minor updates required to meet European (pedestrian) safety regulation and the Forward Collision Warning system was removed when it was introduced here [...] In the frontal offset test, the airbags of both the driver and passenger inflated insufficiently to properly restrain the occupants. In the full-width frontal test, a lack of rear seatbelt pre-tensioners and load-limiters meant that the rear passenger slid under the seatbelt, implying higher risk at abdominal injuries in real life accidents. In the side impact crash, the head of the 10-year-old dummy contacted the interior trim bottoming out the curtain airbag.
It's only the rear seats that have no pre-tensioners etc, fronts have em. It did a lot better in the US safety tests outperforming the Camaro & Challenger apparently, but they seem to have "watered down" the safety features for Europe.

I also read somewhere that the facelift version is coming to Europe later in 2017 and will have all of these issues addressed so should see a 4 star rating then I guess.
