Evo 6 thoughts been offered one

Been offered an evo 6 and always fancied one. Just wondering if anyone has owned one and also has or owned a stage 3a s14a for comparison

My next door neighbour and bessy mate has had a IV and a VI before moving on to Audis then coming back to a TM VI. I've been in them all quite a few times and had a cheeky test drive of his first VI and would have to say it depends...

The IV he had was nice. A solid little car, it behaved nicely, gripped well and was fairly well matched to my S13.

The VI he had was in good nick, a very nice blue colour but it didn't come on boost until 4.5K rpm and always seemed to need something doing to it. He's a mechanic but try as he might, he couldn't get to the bottom of it and ended up falling out of love with it.

The Tommy VI he has now is a lovely car and goes, looks and sounds great but he has had to replace quite a few mechanical bits and pieces on it They are pretty tunable though. There are quite a few fake TM cars about apparently.

All in all, a bit of a mixed bag, I'd say. IMO, they're not as involving to drive as an S14a. Seats are very grippy and interior is pretty good for a 90s Jap car.

They rust as badly as S bodies.

The ones I've seen have seemed to be less rusty generally but that is only in my limited experience. I guess there are plenty of 90s rust buckets around whatever you are looking at.

Cheers lads. Hummmmmmm 4500rpm lag. And guessing once rolling the s14a stage 3a prob quicker too more fun to drive. Just we have dropped our 2nd child and the extra couple doors would be great and so much easier when I do school run etc. Always fancied one after I sold my old impreza p1. Loved my p1 but hated the understeer and heard the evo turn in is brilliant.

Because they'd both be as dull as fcuk compared to an evo 6

I had a 14a for the first 3 years of my 2-daughter dadhood.

I've had a 13 for the duration of both their existences. One is driving and the other pestering for driving lessons.

200SX ownership and parenthood can be done

Sorry 4 door skyline are not for me same for the laurel. I suppose it will be me putting the youngest in and out the carea when needed. So will be fine and wife doesn't touch my car anyway she has her own. So technically will be fine. I'm going to get rid the gtr seats I have in at the min as they don't fit me well at all. 5.7 and stocky build (aka fat) does my back in. Swapping for some stock interior to clean it up too. So will also make it a nicer daily drive. Which the s14a is for me. Plus I have just got some tomie pon cams and bc springs I would not mind fitting and seeing how it goes . The guy is coming round on Saturday sounds like a nice bloke. Suppose I might not like it anyway yet. Or love it so win win. Yet again he might not like the 14. But then again you floor it and you defo get and addictive rush

Depends on spec, condition, and price I would say. They're a solid car performance wise, but comparing to an S-body is apples and oranges really, completely different animals & both highly tuneable.

The V/VI are easily the most desirable so are appreciating in value steadily at the moment, even the non-special edition versions, so not a bad time to get one, if the money is right you shouldn't lose money on it anyways.

Better not look at the X reg W210 Merc that's parked up the road from me. Rot from stem to stern. Offside wing has been made "safe" with gaffer tape. Rot round the boot lock key hole.

But yes. 2002 Mazda 323F GXI get bad rot round rear what arch. Passes MOT with a fist sized hole in the back end of the sill. MOT guy hasn't opened the back door and worked out where the rear seat belt anchor bolt is.

I love Skylines but four door and Skyline should not be used in the same sentence. Just no. Stagea RS on the other hand.........
