Diff Rear Bush Removal - WTF

I've spent a few unpleasant hours underneath my car, atomising rubber and depositing it all over myself. I've eventually got one diff rubber mount out and most of the residual rubber removed.

I offer up one of my aluminium bushes just to get a feel for how tight the fit will be. It doesn't fit. Not even close.

    The hole: 54.5mm

    The bush: 58.6mm

4mm too big! Sticking this in the freezer is not going to help.

Have I been supplied the wrong size bushes, or am I supposed to remove this metal lip - and if so, how?!

Sorry to say you've wasted a lot of time in cleaning the rubber off bud, you cut that ring out, so remove as much of the mount as possible then cut through the metal ring, you can the fold one bit over the other then it should come out easily

Yeah could be a lot worse! Haha it is a pain with the subframe still on the car! Recip saw would be the best if you have one or can borrow one? And just be careful not to go too mad and cut the subframe too!

If you look halfway through page 1 you'll see mine once they were out so you can get an idea of what I mean when I say cut and fold it on its self
