    Replacing the turbo lines

OK, I would like to replace the old Turbo lines on the T25 tubby, however, I am not sure what to do. In the original setup there are 4 'hard-lines' but I only have 3 braided hoses as the replacement... Is it that one of the braided lines does the job of the two hard-lines that are bound together (the one with the broken/perished rubber elbow that I am holding)?

That pipe is from the hot start solenoid and can be removed(search the forum). For the turbo you have 2 water hoses on the front and rear of the turbo, one oil feed on top(shortest hose) and a rubber oil drain pipe on the bottom.

Yea as above you have all the lines you need.

Have you removed/by-passed the Hot Start solenoid already, have you removed the pipework from it that connects to the plenum?

    Shortest line is oil feed.
Line with banjo's both ends is coolant feed
Line with 1 banjo and a barbed fitting is coolant return.

For the return i used a piece of 8mm id silicone hose to go from barbed fitting to rear of inlet.

As said above glad to see you are cracking on with it!

Thanks for the encouragement and advice! I've wanted to do the work on car but I've taken on a second job so I have so little time on the weekends now I'll do my best thought!

I haven't removed/by-passed the Hot Start Solenoid so I will have to look up previous posts on how to do that.

I'll have a look 'round the garage for an old bit of silcone hose (seem to have a surplus since owning an s-body).

Be a tad careful using certain silicone hose for the oil return line. Make sure it can withstand the extreme heat of the oil.
    Some obviously melt

Oil/fuel/diesel specific silicone hoses often have fluoro liners to add increased chemical resistance

Think he means the coolant return round the back of the head?

The oil drain/return is larger than 8mm isn't it? For the oil drain you want something like Flourosilicone or R6 Rubber hose.

noted, I assume coolant hoses might be ok?? They get pretty hot, afterall but not sure about how they'd react to oil...

I'd just get some decent oil hose for the sake of like 4 quid.

Oil will perish the normal rubber lines very quickly
