    Getting Back In a Nissan!

It's not an S-body this time, but I've always had a massive hankering for a Z31. I'm picking her up the 5th.

It's a UK manual car. Immediate plans will be to just enjoy it over the summer. When the weather gets nasty she'll be coming off the road for some TLC and we'll go from there. Long term plans will probably involve an engine swap. Options that spring to mind are: SR20 or a 1JZ.

It would be sacrilege not to put an RB into it

    rb, vg30, or vq.

dirty 4 pots don't belong in a z, neither do lumps for other brands. keep it nissan

I can't say I disagree that putting a four banger in a Z would be criminal. The additional 100 horses and the weight saved was the only thing that had me tempted. I don't really know a lot about the stock vg30 engine and what the torque limits are on the bottom end. I'd like to aim for around 500bhp, but I know that would have the RB on the limit. Financially, it would be madness not to opt for a1JZ... but yeah... I'd get my ass flamed.

F*ck the flames, why put an inferior engine in if your going to do it?

Such a cool looking car deffo needs a 6 cylinder soundtrack so JZ would be my choice also

Logic does take presidence over being a purist. I think a high revving 1JZ would be awesome in the Z.

vg30dett will do 400+ on just a remap, plenty seem to push 500 on stock engines. pretty beasty imo.

That's awesome news. I will join a z31 forum once I have the car and get as much info as possible.

The Z is in my hands! Me, my girlfriend and the dog are currently waiting for the freight ferry to bring us back from the Isle of Lewis to the mainland. We drove up from Southampton last night and arrived at 1pm today so to say we're a bit fooked is an understatement.

It needs a bit of love, but overall its no worse than I expected for a 1988 car.

I'll start a build thread to document it's history once I'm back.
