    Rich's Blue S15 Spec R

    Hi all,

I first joined this site last year with my first S Body, an emerald green S14a, but I've since sold that and upgraded to an S15. There seemed no other choice as, having owned a few different Japanese imports now, not many tick all the boxes that the Silvia does.

Anyway, I've owned it since March of this year. Since then I have fitted a few parts (radiator, bushes, spark plug cover etc), had the engine bay painted, serviced it and generally loved it. Here's a current picture and a spec list.

    - 2002 S15 Spec R
    - Six speed manual
    - Helical LSD
    - 65K miles with a phenomenal Jap and UK service history showing 12 services from new (avg. 6000 mile interim)
    - 1 previous UK owner who imported it through Torque GT
    - C's short shifter
    - Defi oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp and boost gauges
    - Turbo timer
    - BC Racing coilovers with camber adjustable pillowball top mounts
    - Whiteline front tension rod bushes
    - Rays 17" wheels
    - Porterfield front brake pads, Nissan rears
    - Front mounted intercooler
    - Iridium BKR7EIX spark plugs
    - Tomei plug cover
    - Superspark coil packs
    - Driftworks Supercool radiator
    - Nistune mapped by Protuner
    - Tomei manifold
    - Tomei downpipe
    - AB Flug carbon front splitter/undertray
    - New OEM headlights
    - 3" exhaust system with decat and twin downpipe
    - Gizmo boost controller
    - Retrimmed front seats in half perforated leather and genuine Bride centre panels
    - Factory aero skirts and aftermarket aero rear spats
    - Tegiwa torque damper
    - Alloy breather tank
    - Blitz intake
    - Summit Racing front strut brace
    - Nardi deep corn 330mm
    - HKB steering boss
    - Yashio factory gear stick gaitor

Here's another picture, this was one from last weekend at ABP Motorsport where they carried out the remainder of the major Nissan 48K service for me. Current mileage being on 65K.

She has had, between myself and ABP, the following:-

    - Millers Oils NANODRIVE CFS 10w-50 NT Full Synthetic Engine Oil
    - Millers Oils CRX 75w-90 NT Competition full synthetic transmission oil (gearbox)
    - Motul Gear 300 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Racing Car Gearbox & Diff Oil (differential)
    - Motul Inugel Optimal Car Antifreeze / Coolant
    - Millers Oils Extra Cool Coolant Booster & Corrosion Inhibitor ADDITIVE
    - Mahle Fuel Filter KL171
    - Millers Oils Racing Brake Fluid 300 Plus
    - NGK BKR7EIX (2667) - Iridium IX Spark Plug
    - Nissan Oil Filter -15208-53JOA
    - Full inspection including road test
    - All hinges greased and all undercarriage bolt heads greased to prevent corrosion

So, following my last post I had the brake fluid changed (again), tracking reset and two new front Yoko's.

I then set off on my 2700 mile road trip covering France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. Highlights included the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, Lake Como in Italy, the Swiss passes (St Gotthards, Susten, Furka, Grimsel) and of course lapping the Nurburgring!

The car performed pretty much faultlessly and on the trip down to catch the Channel Tunnel it returned over 40mpg! (seriously!)

Here's a couple of pics but there are plenty more to come.

That road trip would be awesome. Looking at Nurburgring myself in a few years.

Cheers! I've done a photoshop to see how it would look with grey wheels. What do you think?

Haha, fair comment! I think I will look to another set of wheels in the near future, but for now these at least need a refurb.

Silver looks good with blue but not many other colours. Most seem to draw the eye away from the car,and blue is such a cool colour. Chrome would also be too shouty

The current finish is almost chrome but has started to flake away from the wheels. I wouldn't mind a regular silver but worried it may make the wheels look even cheaper than they already do - and they're Rays wheels!

I guess a matte or satin silver could look good?

I'd say so. Hard wearing is important if you want it to survive a few winters

Well, I scrapped the wheel refurb idea and went straight for a new wheel/tyre set up. I'm running 225/40/18 AD08R's up front and the same again on the rear in 255/35 sizing. VERY grippy! Also managed to attend Trax at Silverstone this year. The car was on a club stand and got great feedback
