    Sorting the VVT problem

    Hi there,

I have checked if there is a thread on this but i couldn't find one on VVT rattle, I just want to know the best way to get rid of this because its annoying and embarrassing, I've tried changing the oil and also buying a second hand VVT sprocket but it's come back 😩. What can I do?

    Cheers

    Cameron

Option 1 - Buy a new pulley and solenoid

Option 2 - Replace with adjustable cam pulley and put up with the reduced performance.

Okay I see, how much would the first option set me back? I've heard of people replacing the solenoid but the noise was still there?

Find the yellow wire on your solenoid multiplug, and connect that to an earth point i.e. nearest convenient bolt.
    This engages the VVT permanently.

This may generate an uneven idle (I did not find that, but others have said it happens) and is not recommended above 5200rpm, where Nissan intended the VVT to shut off.
If you're driving below 5200rpm it can't hurt to try it, and it solves immediate embarassment

There has been a few threads on this, buy a micro switch and attach it to the throttle wheel so that it only grounds with throttle shut and allows normal operation at other times - job done with no down side for £1.50 instead.
