I'ts 5th gear with a bigger budget. Actually, it makes 5th gear look pretty original.

I like matt le blanc in it. Everything else seems pushed and hard work. Evans just seems to shout at everyone to do what he wants.

Also. It's the same format. Could they not do something original?

Nope he will be one of those people that always thinks he is right no matter how often he is proven wrong.

Why did they not do the "and on that bombshell" piece? They copied every other bit.

I only saw a bit of it as it was my wee girls bedtime.

It kind of felt like they were trying too hard to be the same but different. SIARPC was a case in point - it can't work if there's 15 seconds difference between the celebrity drivers. Add to that that they were using an autocue.

Was there an actual reason for them to go to Blackpool? It just felt pointless and really not that interesting.

No news section either, as if thats off limits to them i wonder...

The nomad piece was ok, that and the end credits were the highlight of the hour.

What we have is the following recipe.
Take one well loved car, a legend like the 1st gen scooby turbo.
Fit cock-eye lights a poof scoop and some make the interior squeak a little less, everyone points and laughs at the new "car" trying to hard to be the legend.
Thats what we have with new TG, we have the bug-eye scooby.. a bit of a minger.

I thought it was entertaining enough for an hour, so give it chance to see how it develops.

I don't watch much tv, so for me at least it's 10 times better than soaps/reality/talent sh1te that is allover tv and repeats.

Agreed. I really quite enjoyed it. I quite like Evans most of the time but he was way too excitable. He just needs to tone it down and stop shouting.

The sitrpc was much better i thought. I usually loathe this but they got the plugging out of the way straight away and made it vaguely interesting by talking about car.

The old top gear was pretty shit for the first series. Give it time they will find there feet.

Aye, that's exactly what I was thinking on the basis of the chunk I saw last night. It was like they'd taken a sports car, slapped some go faster stripes and a spoiler on it and... Spoiled it

However, I watched the whole thing this morning. Aside from the lack of premise for the Reliants and that I still think the change to the SIARPC bit is flawed, I enjoyed it. LeBlanc is clearly imitating Hamster, and actually doing a good job of it so there's a bit of banter in there. LR vs Willys was entertaining if lacking a bit of substance at times.

It's rough around the edges but there's potential, I'll be watching next week

4.3Mil figures for last night, thats abysmal even considering its a bank hol weekend with nice weather.
Evans said he would be disappointed with sub 5M, well he will be really happy with closer to 4....

Next week loose 250k, then sub 4Mil for week ending up at about 3.2Mil per show at the end of the run.

    Poor...

Is Chris Harris just doing the extra gear stuff or is he going to be in the main show as well?
