We made it all the way from 1945 to 1973 without the EU having diddly shit to do with world peace.

Name three things that the EU (not NATO, the G8 nor any other body) has contributed to world peace other than allowing the Germans to focus on trying to dominate Europe through economics rather than military might !

No, it was the US, UK and France involved with the EU.

    What happened in 1973?

World Peace? Get your head out of your arse. We haven’t had world peace, it just moved on. Korea, Vietnam, Cold War

Now we have the Middle East, North Korea. They are pissed off with Britain and the US trying to be the world police - does it need South Park creators to tell you that?

And don’t blame the Germans. The French are am inherently envious race. They dropped their weapons and fled but secretly sided with the Nazis. Yes the French were rounding up the Jews for the Death camps. And before you start, have you ever been to a death camp and seen what happened?

So basically. The Leavers are pissed off because although the Krauts lost the war, they seem to have economically won due to UK / US financial rebuilding. The drop their weapons and run French sided with the Germans because they were actually sensible. Our manufacturing economy went to shit because , well it happened before Thatcher.

    Go kick a ball

    Guys

I started this thread so can request for it to be locked / closed, but I won’t, but the Mods are right.

    We are squabbling like children.

We won’t agree on politics, that’s what it is all about, if we all did then there wouldn’t be all this shit in the world. We all can be passionate about what we “believe in” (Leon - the world isn’t flat and when I get this baby ready, why don’t you come down to Cambridge and watch it being launched? That’s called an Olive branch mate)

I have been personally and financially hurt by Brexit, so will never agree with the idea.., maybe it will help others, but if I have made it personal, I’m sorry. But it is personal because what suits us, may not suit others. Which is why we need to come up with ideas to balance the economy in Britain. It’s no good the economic powerhouses be in the South East when it is difficult for everyone else to get there.... but HS2 isn’t the solution. It’s what we should have done 40 years ago, unfortunately the people who live in the Cotswolds don’t like it - not everyone will, but why is it taking us 20 years to build a railway when the Chinese can build a hospital in 10 days?

But that isn’t it. We have a Victorian railway that isn’t good enough for the 21st century (hell I fear being derailed every time I go through Romford / Ilford - yet they think they can do London to Norwich in 90 minutes)

Brexit won’t work if we can’t pull together but unfortunately that won’t happen with the corrupt nature of our politics (not just government but our local councils)

Rather than just think for ourselves (the Chipping Norton set, opposed to HS2 because it might go through a friend’s stable) how about rather than dismissing the idiots who are in charge (Boris is an Idiot, a buffoon - he may be able to talk Greek and recite Homer’s Iliad, but that doesn’t qualify him to run the country...) (Corbyn is a Socialist, wanted you to strip everyone of their wealth to equalise - nice idea but just breeds contempt and doesn’t remove the envy culture of this country)

I don’t have the right ideas (who has) but who does?

The sad thing is. Brexit has been a dream child of a number of people getting very rich off of our ignorance. I’m not talking just the Brexit outcome, but the internal politics that have happened since

Thing is, folk have been moaning about various European things for ages and the government have just ignored them - so how can anyone be surprised when there is an eventual backlash.

If they had listened to whatever whines the leave group have made over the last 20 or 30 years and tried to change some things it may not have come to this.

True but the the people we voted to make change had a policy of doing nothing.

None of it was for the good of us, was just to make these politicians richer. Guess they have to find something else now they can’t switch tax payer houses

Yup, but it was O'Farrell that takes the credit for the John Major sketches - including the More Peas Norma idea. I've got a lot of his books.

Interesting how the Chancellor who truly turned Britain’s faltering economy around is a EU remainer but the best chancellor we have had since I can remember... mr Peas was also Chancellor

Thanks for your offer I would love to strap a wide angle lense camera to your rocket I believe it would produce an interesting result regarding the heliocentric model, but as a father of three I have very little time for myself nowadays.

If I was aware of your circumstances I would have posted differently, I have always been disagreeable and enjoyed a good argument/debate.
I have found in the past that if I push peoples buttons I get a better response, I admit I do take it too far sometimes.
None of us will make a difference on the subjects we have been debating it is far beyond our control, we are just a bunch of disagreeable middle aged men and I do agree to disagree and moving forwards I will keep it friendly and not be so abrasive.
