    s13 with s14 engine conversion - temp Q

my jap sr20de s13 got its s14 vvt sr20det fitted and the water temp gauge isnt working.
i gather from google that there is a wire that needs to be changed for it to work on the s13 loom...?
is that correct? does anyone know specifically what wires and where?
    thanks in advance

(PS: yes its plugged in proper, and no i don't want and aftermarket gauge thanks )

Is it not just the sensor that needs swapping over to the S13 one?

to test to see if the sender is faulty try unplugging the wire off the sensor, then hold it against the engine block. grounding it out will make the gauge rise all the way to the top.

although it sounds to me like you need to swap a pin on the dash interface plug (m54)
