The 'not planned to be a project' project

Wasn't going to make a project thread but thats mainly because this car was never supposed to be a project...

I over paid for the car originally, mainly because I didn't know anything about them but also because I thought if I pay more for one its got to be a decent one...right??

So about a year ago and 4k lighter I came home with this

It was Kind of a 'drift' spec. Welded diff, bucket seats, harnesses etc. And supposedly a car with so much power it could easily outrun Porshes and Ferraris (words of the seller). Turns out it was only a stage one with an s14 turbo running stock psi...running 210bhp when i got it dynoed.

A few months after owning it and using it as a daily driver for 60 odd miles a day it overheated and burst all its water pipes! With the help of Rich (or Pointz on here) who rebuild the top end of my engine it was back on the road nice and quick.

After changing the bucket seats for s14 leathers to make it a bit more daily friendly, I used it as a daily for a while longer until the cost of running it became a bit too much so it ended up sitting in a field for about 6 months. It got SORN and the MOT ran out which meant it just didnt get used. Ended up getting quite mouldy...

I saved up a bit of cash and wanted to get it back on the road so looked at getting it MOTd. One quick look at the chassis and being told by quite a few people (didnt want to belive anyone at first) it was clear it needed a reshell due to the rust making it unsafe even if it were to be repaired. I wont clog this up with pictures of the rust as im sure youve all seen enough of that... but It was bad!

Sourced a shell from an ex british Drift championship car (the phoenix, if anyone knows their stuff...)

Again thanks to Pointz for taking me to pick up the shell

    So now the work begins...

Its at a very recommended garage (http://www.garage-homegrown.co.uk/) with everything being transfered into the new shell right about now

And some nice new shiny parts to go on it when all done...

I turned the boost up to about 14psi which the clutch didnt like so ive got a stage 3 competition paddle clutch going in as well as a normal, unwelded diff. Its now also got a stage 2 ecu and walbro fuel pump as well. So should be around 270bhp.

Got 3 new prosport gauges (boost, oil and water temp) but havent got a decent pic yet...
which will be going in to replace the center air vent

And because the reason i bought an s13 in the first place is because I saw a rocket bunny one a few years back...this arrived today!

Im sure I've missed bits out but ill update this thread as i go along

Got some rubber for the wheels he other day. Went for the Westlake Rs sport tyres after recommendation from Pointz.

Also painted the engine bay before the engine goes back in. It was supposed to be a dark purple according to the website...

I was so nervous driving on those tyres in the wet when i 1st got them, but for semi-slicks the grip is amazing although they do need warming up a little at 1st and i hate driving in the wet lol

Look forward to seeing them on and loads more progress pics over the weekend

Engine is in along with dash

Also test fitted the front wheel but i think they may need spacers once the rocket bunny kit is on.

Just waiting on delivery of some rear subframe bushes but hopefully not too far off completion now!

Hopefully the last update before its all running and ready to go... ended up having to buy a fuel cell, then an in line fuel pump and filter as well. Very shiny!!!

I bought the wrong fuel pump though as it was too powerful for the 8mm lines ive got so ive had to downgrade to a 234l/ph fuel pump, should still do the job just fine

Ive added some 25mm spacers up front
so this is how it sits at the moment, with the windscreen being fitted this week. And hopefully body kit fitted on Saturday

    Not much longer to go!

Had allot of Graffiti paint left over from painting the floor and engine bay so thought I'd put it to some good use.

Pattern is only on one side at the moment but will be doing the other side this weekend if it stays dry!

Front bumper needs a bit of work as it sags a bit in the middle and leaves a big gap between the bonnet and bumper :/
