    Going for 500 crank BHP

    Hi

I've been searching through the forums and it seems the general consensus is that to get 500 crank bhp from a sr20 its not worth it and you need to spend 10s of thousands etc... and i cant see why, providing I do all the work myself (except dyno and machining)

Heres my proposed setup, some of which i have already

    Nistune board
    Z32 maf
Nismo 740's with the fuel pressure bumped up a bit (still may be a bit small but close)
    Walbro 255
Forged pistons/rods with acl race bearings
    Uprated HG
    All ARP fasteners
BC stage 2 264 cams and BC uprated springs. Mild head porting.
    Gt3076r with .82 turbine housing
    T3 top mount/ external gate
    I have a z32 box

Then all the usual stuff, FMIC, engine mounts 3 inch turbo back etc

Sorry if this has been asked before I'm just trying to learn and plan my build

    Thanks

Id say youd want a different fuel setup with a bosch 044 rather than a walbro

Think you'd need closer to 1000cc injectors and suitable rail and plenum. I'd also go a different route with the ecu and run maf less

Far better mapping needed. Gearbox needed.

All of this, you'd risk blowing up your brand new engine running the OP's spec.

Something like a apexi power FC D-Jetro or a Link ecu so you can run maf less, and biger injectors definitely.

As most have said above, Link G4+/Extreme needed and a lot larger injectors. Its only gonna go bang anyway, save your money and go JZ

I think the consensus is if you want 500 big ones you buy a different car.

I don't see why not with that setup. I have pretty much identical setup with 3071r and it made almost 450hp. With a bit higher fuel pressure and bigger turbo 500hp shouldn't be a problem.

I have a GT3076r and with it wound up im only managing to crack 420 on a dyno dynamics RR, and thats with 740cc injectors that are nearly maxed out and HKS cams.

I had to replace the throttle body too because i found the standard one was too restrictive.

Apart from the turbo that's exact same as my set up, it made 503 but was then backed down to 485
Wouldn't have done it without dialing in the bc cams though and removing the vvt, the idle was lumpy because they end up with mega overlap
This was still a bit on the limit for the injectors though as it melted a piston the day after on a track day.
I had 87mm pistons and also the larger sr20de throttle body, a 6 boost turbo manifold and holset HY35 Turbo. Rb25 gear box and act extreme clutch

I ran steel liners and just forged pistons, 2mm steel h/g, 272 lash type cams with verniers, 850 injs, q45 afm, gt3076r with i think 86ar or 1.06ar i cant remember!, power fc, 44mm w/gate, greddy inlet, still on a walbro!

Mapped by greg 530bhp (crank) @1.8bar boost.
Never missed a beat on or off track!
Sr's dont need rods! Bob at gbh motorsport years ago told me standard crank and rods will run 1000bhp!?! So went liners for block strength and hks pistons
