Help with ca18det running issues
We recently swapped out a knocking CA18 in my friends motor.
Ever since, the new engine won't run properly. It idles smooth and mechanically seems spot on, but won't seem to rev properly at full throttle. The is better if only on partial throttle but o boldly this isn't right.
It's stage 2 tune, and has an aftermarket fpr setup, all just swapped o er direct from original engine.
Anybody any ideas, we've looked into everything we could think of!

"Starts and idles fine. Drives good and smooth on low revs and boost. If you bury your foot it feels like an old carbed car over fueling. Doesn't pull, but when you ease off it pulls better, as if it's flooding and by letting off you sort the mix. If you ease it on gradually it pulls ok and at high Rev it seems to surge but between 2k and 7k it does nothing if you give it full throttle"
This is how he described it to me

It could also be a faulty coil pack

What do you have your fuel ressure set to?
Could also be timing or vac/boost leak

Rip the aftermarket FPR off as it's a waste of time, fit an original one and new vac hoses, delete the HSS too if it's not already been done.
Then check for boost leaks and stuff.
What fuel pump is it running??
Double check all the electrical connectors on the engine too, it's easy to mix some plugs up, especially around the plenum area.
