Bit of tech help near Dublin please

    Afternoon Gents,

Am just working near Tallaght at moment, and would be grateful for advice on some local Telco providers.

Am I right to assume the National Telecomm co. is as shit as BT?

If so who would you recommend for :

    2 x ISDN2 with 10 DDi number range
    Fibre broadband with static address
    2 x analogue lines

Also, do you have "RED care" lines like in UK, these are monitored alarm lines?

Am just setting up a new site for data and VoIP etc.

Any help on the above appreciated

    Cheers,
    Scottie.

Scottie, these guys haven't even got postcodes yet.
Have you tried pressing 0 and asking the operator ?

Lol what he said^^^...!!! I'm not far from Tallaght but talking gibber jabber I don't understand unless it's got Pistons, oil or dirty engine parts, I'm lost after that!
I do have a friend though who's an electrical engineer that might be able to help tomorrow, he's also within the area, if that's any help?

Jon, apparently they do, it's just they haven't got round to using them yet

Thanks Dani, I think we are just going to use Eire Com now as I hadn't realised the state compared to UK where we have multiple national providers

I flew this time and took a hire car, but in future I may be toing and froing from Liverpool area in an estate car if anyone has parts for UK etc.

There are loads of providers of broadband (static & dynamic) & telephone lines, don't know anyone that does ISDN anymore though??

Presume you tried www.google.ie?? First example of a broadband search gave me this site to give you an idea of the companies that do it: https://switcher.ie/broadband/ They're probably all domestic as opposed to commercial but you'll get an idea.

Infrastructure-wise 'Eir' (formerly 'Eircom' formerly 'Telecom Eireann' - the Irish equivalent of BT) do the network-related work, lines etc but are subcontracted to by the other telco utility providers.

Might be worth PM'ing Matthew (or FB message him) as he knew a bit about the commercial side from yesteryear: he may be able to give you some basic guidance if Google turns up nothing for you (I'd be surprised if it didn't though!).

Yeah there are a few monitored alarm services over here - again I'd only know some of the domestic ones from hearing about them on the radio (like 'Eircom Phonewatch') but again Google is your friend there for the commercial stuff.

On a separate note, if you're over this way at all & have some free time it'd be great to meet up! You have my number so shoot me a text or throw me a PM here.

    Cheers JP.

We use Verizon as a Global WAN provider, so they are installing MPLS and backup circuit.

The ISDN2 were just to provide some local VoIP numbers so we could get Dublin area code and DDi range to building, and fibre broadband was our own backup to WAN provider, so we just went with Eircom as they had business support section who were easy to deal with.

Next time will bring a works car over and have some free time, hopefully get best part of a week there when we structure wire etc. Also want to go and see a good mate in Tuam, think it's only a few hours from where we work, the Hibernian Industrial estate next to new Amazon warehouse off Greenhills road if you know it.

Only spotted this now. Greenhills Rd is 5 mins from my house. Let me know when you're over next and we'll grab a coffee/pint

If you know where the Mazda dealership is it's just behind there

When you say 'Works' Astra..? Either way you'll be over on 'holidays' so give us a call once you know if you'll be free in the evenings & we'll arrange to head out for some grub & a catch-up!
