Either it's CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE or it has 6 discreet gears.

The whole point of CVT is that when you mash the pedal to the metal it winds up to PEAK power rpm and stays there until either you let off or it maxes out. RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

If it goes vrooom, vroooooom, vroooooooom it's failing to do as asked and give maximum performance.

Nissan's 6 Speed CVT is a CVT that is programmed to drive like a 6 speed manual. The tech is CVT, but the ECU replicates the behaviour of a 6 speed automatic. It's an odd lash up.

Sweet ride. I'd not mind one of those as a daily

Audi's offering (until recently) was doing something vaguely similar. It was still hopeless and dreadful though.

I do very much like Cube's however, proper funky little things.

It really is odd! Originally I thought it had the normal 4 speed auto, but started to drive it and realised it was the CVT. It's a rare optional extra on the 1.4 gen 2 cube. It means it's more economical but more expensive when it goes wrong!

It's got shifting buttons on the steering wheel, so it's almost a race car! Lol. But it will mean I can retire the S15 from daily duties after 5 years!

I've considered a cube, as above I am like them but not quite sure why...

Sadly they don't meet two of my main criteria of
A, most are auto and I'd rather not..
B, rear seats don't fold flat. Not as practical as I had imagined.

Glad you like yours though. There's quite an active owners club scene I believe.

They should fold flat. Mines the 7 seater version with longer wheel base and with the rear seats folded down the boot is big. Then the middle seats fold down and its huge!

The gen3 cubes come in 6 speed manual but the front end is not as nice!

But auto is so much nicer to drive in a little commuter box!
