    Oil filter problems

I just did an oil change and replaced filter, started her up to hear a pop. Then a gurgle and a puddle of oil!!! Low and behold the filter has popped off for some reason. Its a QFL0269 http://www.findpart.org/part/qh-qfl0269/ which apparently is right. Thankfully it came off straight away and not as i drove off anywhere!

I am now paranoid that this may happen again! The original filter was a Halfords HOF285 which after searching on here is correct. I have refitted the original for now.

Can anyone check the Quinton Hazell QFL0269 (M20 thread)is right for an S14? Its going onto a Greddy relocation kit but the Halfords one fitted so i assume it takes the original filters? makes sense anyway.

If it spins on then the thread is right, so should tighten up fine and seal on the rubber. Did you manage to get it tight enough? Maybe something simple like the rim on the filter is buckled?

Most use an 80's Corolla filter with the greddy kit. The standard filter is concaved where as the Corolla ones are convex on the mounting face and give more turns on the relocation boss.

I've got the same kit and haven't fitted it yet as I don't have the right filter

It'll go on but only by 1 1/2 turns if it's the same as mine. It's also pretty slack.

I think some ran the ca filter too from memory.

That may be what it was. I did think that it wasn't many threads but it was more than 1.5 turns.

Filter was on right and wasnt buckled just popped off with pressure. It was literally just resting on the threads, Couldn't pull it off either.

Good news, it fits perfectly. I now realise the Halfords one was wrong too and i was bloody lucky it didn't pop off too!

Myself and Jon are both going to be using greddy oil filter relocation plates so the thread could well be different. Sr filters don't seem to be a good fit
