All the turbo conversion kits work out more a sr20det conversion to the running stage is going to be around £1500 or less going buy the engine prices. Ill just use the same parts as I did on the rx8.
I think the lexus is250 box is going to be better than the stock 6 speed.
the one in the youtube vid posted by cleanhands making 430 they didn't mention the 'box dying it was clutch and drive shafts
the stock box may be up to the job of an SR making 300/350 or 400 even?
but the agro of getting the bzr box onto the back of the SR,like a custom adaptor plate and what clutch flywheel to use?
after watching the vid the bzr motor reads as good and responds well when boosted,
I liked the bit about how much more power the bzr motor made than the ej20 with same turbo
just giving it boost is the costly bit,,, so back to the old SR with SR gearbox and just the prop to modify possibly?
I think it would turn out better than the rx8 with the SR you did,not by miles as the rx8 ain't bad tbh,
but IMO the bzr is a better base chassis for the engine swap, and a much nicer looking car
The rx8 was a very difficult basecar as moving the steering rack is a timely balancing act to find a sweetspot, it uses a power plant frame so no diff or gearbox body mounts.
the gt86 is more like the s14 as in having a crossmemeber under the engine holding the steering rack so hopefully it can be tweaked so that the steering wont be moved but allow enough room for the sr to sit as a reasonable hight.
Im not a fan of the s14 box as its onoy 5 speed I always feel it needs to shift up a gear. I wouldnt of thought a z33 box would fit in the tunnel with out some cutting and welding. Hence trying a is250 box adaptors arent too bad once you start.
the frame is out by at least 3/4 of a inch and there is some odd kinks innthe flitches and a few mounting holes arent lining up.
I would sell it and poor more money into my sil80
Why not finish your S14?
I wouldnt do anything with the gt86, its a great car as is and should be left alone.
Well maybe some stickier tyres, and nitros.
Everything is hard work with it. Most of the engine parts are custom. Everytime I start on it I end up needing something machined or made with cnc mill, waterjet, laster cutter which takes upto 2 weeks. It also needs hours of aluminium tig welding which I hate so its just been pushed to the back and covered up.
So you're abandoning your S14?
It's been broken for spares and sold. What's the relevance?
IMO a set of wheels and coilovers really transform the look of them, stunning looking cars but depends how far you want to go with it (just like any other project I suppose)
Seeing as you want to respray it I would then be inclined to look for bodykits and change stuff up a bit more.
Personally if money was no object I would 2JZ and RB kit one no questions
Thats a big un on the end of that line, wonder if its a shark.
