The system on all new model fords from the current Mondeo is a lot better and it sounds the alarm if anyone accesses the port with the car locked.
A steering lock is setting us back 25 years. It would stop me buying the car and I'd find an alternative.

My version of safe keyless. I just leave my key in my pocket and press the unlock on the plip as I unlock the car.

Why is using some kind of key considered a hardship, so needs to be done away with?

As a BMW owner with one of the stupid keys that slot into the dash, I'd be quite happy to just use a key to make it go. I could then have a mechanical steering lock, and it'd all just be more secure, and I would have other keys on the same ring as the car key without them rattling and scratching the dash!

To be honest i like having a key to start the car.
We should be using biometrics these days anyway, if my phone and computer can activate based on fingerprint or eye print then a bloody car should.

Yes its a pain but 30secs inconvenience is a small price to pay to have the car you want. Anyway there are not many alternatives as more and more cars are getting power buttons especially sports/high end models and the systems are equally shit on all of them

It's not just the inconvenience of the stop lock, if people want the cars that much then you are putting your personal security at risk, and your family as well. Afflicts Ford more than most which is a shame because they are making some cracking cars recently.

I have not heard of anyone getting car jacked in an ST

Range Rovers and Audis are also high on the list of getting nicked, a lot of the time houses are getting broken into and the keys being stolen as well.

If this is a concern you can always buy a Vauxhall

I would put a sign up at the front door with "I love Tony Martin" - that will stop just about anyone thinking of breaking in for keys

Instead of breaking into your house to steal the keys, they just lop your fingers off

Yeah i saw those, problem is i think it is more of a warm hatch/gt type car. Its not a wee puppy like a fiesta.
If Kia could maybe make a hardcore version then they would have a winner.

Did you say no to the fiat 500 as the 595 COMPETIZIONE is ****ing mental. I know someone with the 500 biposto which is stupidly mad and very quick but they are 35k but the competition is around 20k on the road.

Pretty sure the EVO editor runs one as a long term test, and they really like it, does no harm to do a bit more research and test drive

Id vote for a Suzuki Swift. One of the performance models. I've just driven a 62 plate 1.2vvt model (bout 95bhp) and i tell you what it made me smile. Actually rather quick for a 1.2, i had it pegged at at least a 1.4 maybe a 1.5 but was shocked when i discovered it was only a 1.2. Very rev happy engine and handled quite well.

    So another quote back,

    2ltr sport MX5 in black
    42 months
    3k deposit
    £300 a month exactly.
    £8043 balloon

    Thats a good price.

If you put 3k down on a ST it would probably only be around £180-200 a month.

I expect an st3 on 3k/42 to be low 200s i would think.
The local ford dealer quoted me 270 straight off for 2k x 48 (iirc) but i walked out when i found he wouldnt do the mountune kit, like WTF???

    Thats a good price.
What are the annual mileage limits on that?

So that is 12600 in rent, plus 3k deposit, so you are paying £15.6k to rent a car you have to give back.

Those figures are astronomical. You could buy a great 911 for £15k, the running costs are not that much higher using specialists, and then could get £12k at least for it in 4 years time
