need help idle issues on redtop sr...

following up from this thread as its getting frustrating now and feel like giving up.

    http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.p...afm&highlight=

so if anyone is local to me and knows there sr's please help me get it running and i will even pay.

so far it idles dead on 2k. but i unplugged the z32 as stated in the thread above and the revs went up
higher.? ive had a look at the adjustment screw and that was set high . with the engine running i adjusted
it until revs where around 800 but this made it sound like it was running on 3 with the car shaking really bad.
so with the car running like at 800rpm i again unplugged the z32 . yep it stalled so my first thought was
cas so with it running i adjusted the cas and no made it worse just stalls revs are up and down.

so ive given up for now.

oh i put the adjustment screw back to where it was with the cas and now it wont start.

Have you checked the easy things like spark and fuel? Just wondering if someone has turned the idle up to compensate for a dodgy injector or something?

so far the stuff i have checked

    got spark
now have fuel turned out to be a broken earth
    compression
boost leaks none all new hoses and old ones checked
all gaskets for plem , mani ,turbo, elbow, exhaust are new same as the acc.

im still thinking the maf is to blame causing wrong readings

are you setting the idle correctly? you cant just go about turning the idle control screw, you need to unplug the tps and set the ecu into idle adjustment mode.
    http://www.sr20forum.com/technical-i...your-idle.html

i have a z32 you could borrow but itll be by post.

make sure your throttle butterfly is clean, make sure the tps is set, check for air leaks with brake cleaner, and make sure the timing is set before you adjust the idle.

ah no didn't do that. i will give that ago if the maf doesn't fix the problem. could i borrow yours norfy then please would be good to see if that's my problem.

if it doesnt work ive edit the below so could you explain a bit better where they are located , whats-app me pictures please.

Start car and let idle until engine is warm.
Hold throttle at 2000 RPM for two minutes.
Turn off engine and disconnect throttle sensor. (located on right off tb. black plug?)
Start engine, rev twice to 2000 RPM.
Adjust the idle speed to ~750rp using the idle adjust screw, located near the oil filter.(oil filter?? i only adjusted the small screw under the butterfly wheel?)
Shut down the engine, connect the throttle sensor, and start the engine.
The engine should now idle at out 800RPM.

You shouldn't adjust the idle with the throttle stop screw. That's just to stop the butterfly ja,,img shut too tight and sticking.

You need to adjust that properly first to where it should be. The adjust the idle with screw on iacv and set the tps correctly to the right voltage ranges. I'll be doing this sometime this week too

cool thats I handy link thanks . reading through came across this.

One line from boost source to wastegate actuator as mentioned above. Keep it pre-throttle body as the WG actuator is not designed to operate with vacuum.

ive got mine plumbed into the fmic pipe not the tb as my boost gauge is on the tb . could that really prevent a problem.

ive had the plem off as I replaced the gaskets but im convinced thats fine now . im going to have another go tomorrow so will keep this updated .

im still going to check the maf just for peace off mind. ive put the tb idle screw back where it was now.

It's the same thing, as long as it before the butterfly so it doesn't see the vacuum in the I let when the throttle is closed.

ok basically goes actuator to mbc to the 3 bolt pipe off the turbo not the fmic pipe I said earlier as I forgot I moved the vac line closer to the turbo.

ive sorted a z32 to borrow so I will post up results on that in the week ahead
