Got it when I was 13 from a police auction for £45. Had a track laid out on a relative's field and just nailed it round again and again against the stopwatch. All winter long - time of my life, on reflection.

The track dried out in the spring, I hit a rut on a bend at 40-odd mph and rolled it. Solid little car, no windows came in.

agree mate there are some cool cars here and some of the poopers in the day are cool now ,I think its more some cars you just don't
see anymore because they were so bad they all died ,like the green panda above ain't seen one them for years
and reminded me of the Yugo's from early/mid eighties never see one of them turds now, must all died they were terrible new

can't find a single one for sale so this is for the memories http://www.carscoops.com/2010/07/fou...port-with.html

I once drove a super low miles less than 5k nearly new one a mates GF paid lots for,and it was shockingly bad, just getting it in any gear
was a mission like it had done 200k miles it was so floppy and vague, drove like it had done 200k and everything was loosely attached

good to see and read about others first cars and trigger memories

Cars are cheap which is why you dont see any older cars about anymore. Why bother patching up your Mk3 Cav or Sierra when you can get a 2005 Vectra or Mondeo for £700? They didnt die, people killed them. Incidently I saw a K reg Sierra Azura yesterday

You dont even see any Mk3 Astras or the last Escorts much anymore, pretty much every pre 2000 car has disappeared apart from ones owned by enthusiasts.

At the grand old age of 16, my parents gave me the proceeds of a sixpenny insurance policy they'd paid throughout my childhood and sent me on my way with the grand sum of £130.

I bought and insured one of these (obviously no digital photos of my actual bike) ...

I had various bikes then passed my driving test at the ripe old age of 23 when I was offered this as a company car...

2.7 litres of V6 luxo-barge and automatic transmission, it was repossessed within 6 months and I got given this instead which I absolutely loved...

Oddly, I did kind of understand that what I was driving was pretty special. A 1966 2 litre, 4-cylinder, 4-speed manual with twin weber carbs and pillarless electric windows. The induction roar was to die for.

The first car I had use of 15 years ago was my Mam's 1.4 navy Opel Astra estate. It was like a hearse and regularly saw 6+ passengers in the back and plenty of festivals/road trips

I bought my first car at 19, a red 1.1 Ford Fiesta van. It had an XR2i bodykit with spotlights that weren't wired up, cherry bomb back box, lowering springs and 205/15 OZ Superturismo knock offs. It also had a small matress in the back which saw exactly no action.

Was slow as shit but handled like a go cart on back roads, till I accidentally set it on fire.

    RIP the Red Beast...

I used to have a 76 SS50 when I was a young'n. Was a great little bike. I Paid £130 for it, with a full 12 months ticket, and sold it about 5 years ago as a non runner/garage find for about £500

Is that an XL125, Jonny? I used to have one of those, but the 100cc model to rip up the garden on. I feel so nost***ic now.

I also had an MBX50, an MZ125 thing, a Honda Melody mini and access to a quad bike all by the age of 13

Anyway, as it's about cars... My first car, was a Ford Fiesta, 1.1L with a bent steering wheel, so I replaced it for a nasty Mountney one.
Then a Vauxhall Astra Belmont thing...
Then I got myself an S2 Escort RS Turbo with single wiper conversion, blacked out windows, two stage boost and TSW Evo R wheels. You knew you were somebody back on the 90's/early 2000's of you had a set of TSW Evo-R's or Venoms.

I started in an "A" reg (1983) Fiesta Mk2 I "inherited" :cough: from Mum Not sure if I even have a pic of it

That was duly borrowed by my brother who promptly totalled it having a head on with his mate

I used the insurance pay out from that to buy my first bike a Honda NS125R

I'm never having a Vauxhall again. My Vectra B was the worst thing I ever bought! Door locks jamming, petrol tanks splitting, head gaskets and new engines.

SL 125. Made 1971-1975, it predated the XLs and was a trail bike rather than a trial bike.

Yeah I don't want another Vauxhall either tbh. That one seemed to go through manifolds as well as a reoccurring engine management issue. Total ball ache. I did 50k in it all of which were flat out though.
