    Which brand head gasket

any tips on a preferred brand of head gasket? Are the cometic ones as good as any? I have just removed a cosworth 1.5mm but going to go thinner ideally as new block is not skimmed and not going as mad on the boost
    thanks,

I like the Apexi ones. They do a 1.1mm gasket for standard bore size.

I have heard lots of bad things about Cometic gaskets. I Would Go for Apex'i or Cosworth.

The cometic gaskets need both the head and the block to be pretty much perfect.
You can aid them a little with liquid gasket, I think Hylomar is recommended by most.

I've gone for another cosworth one on standard thickness now though, Got a cometic one for my 2JZ but I needed a thicker one and plus the head and block have been freshly skimmed, plus theres less to seal on them too as theres no cam chain part etc.

I am actually gonna put some sealant around the part of the gasket that goes around where the cam chain goes as the 2 tiny M6 bolts into aluminium were not enough to seal it with a thicker gasket before and it pissed oil down the front

If it's not sealing there it usually means that the block wasn't decked with the oil pump housing attached.
