Getting the itch for a new car....

Long time no post for me

I sold my 180sx 2 years ago. How time flies! Best thing I did if I'm being honest as that car was just cursed during my ownership...

So, my daughter is now 19 months old and for 2 years I've had a sensible Mazda 6 2.2D Sport Estate. I needed a derv because I was doing 1200-1500miles a month and fuel aint cheap.

Thankfully now I work 3 miles from my home, I plan to get another bike as my other one got stolen, but driving something less practical and more fun/theatrical is now on the cards... they question is, what to get!?! I'd prefer something that is still slightly practical (like a saloon), part of me wants to have something turbocharged as I don't know if could live with an N/A car. I enjoy the "drama" of a turbocharged car like pops, bangs, etc.

If you had a budget of 10k what would be top of our list. Looking ideally for a fast road car, but something that could do the odd track day.

Don't know what the roads are like round you, but here they are shocking and was one of the things that used to get on my tats when driving the sx was constant grinding on speed humps and bouncing in pot holes...

If I was going fast road again it would be in a rally style

Something like a evo IX if in budget or a good st205 gt4 and 7 grand left in the bank to make it go like a proper wrc car.

What about a mk2 escort with modern engine? A non original one would be in budget

DC5 ticks the still practical box - they're loads of cash for what they are though.

    335I saloon with a remap?

    650Ci?

    Supercharged jaaaaag?

    Evo8?

    As above, E39 is V8, E60 is V10.

10K for a fast road car with the odd track day? I'd be looking at something like:

If it were me in that situation, i'd overlook the turbo thing and go straight to DC5sville.

M5 would get my vote, with change for a naughty exhaust system.

Thanks for all the responses ..

Vxr8 = I don't fancy a Vauxhall. They all are built like shit.

M5 is tempting but old and expensive if/when it breaks.

Dlowe, I've to put a child in it. Just no on modding shit to death, I can't be arsed.

Evo 9 would be nice, pretty steep and a VI would do just as much for less cash tbh.

Quail, again I've to put a kid in it. I don't want something that's a pain in the ass to do that with. A reasonable modern hothatcg would be doable, but a little (pretty much) 2 seated is useless to me.

Dc5 is not bad, but I've done Honda before and got board in 2months. The Mazda can be remapped to have the same power and twice the torque lol.

Any r32 gtr under 10k is a rotten shed. There is a reason that clean GTRs are 10k plus in Japan!

Chris I did consider chaser and had settled on one, but they are pretty old and wasn't sure I could spend that cash on a 15 toyota!

Save your cash and take finance on a new M135i? They're £358/month for a basic, manual 3 door.

Ever look at personal leasing? I lost a customer to a contract that offered £1500 deposit and £310/month over 18 months.

Take finace out and pay a **** load of cash and own nothing at the end of it... Your alright. I'd rather take a bank loan out and buy something. **** paying £358 a month for a car, I've done it before, never again. Fine if you don't have a house, or a family...

A hundred old vectras, that way you can be almost sure that when you want to drive off you will have one that works.
