I think they generally fall off pretty quick. I certainly had one on this car and my previous car. Just sits around the edge/lip. Probably 4mm diameter.

Surely it will never get wet unless you park in the rain with bonnet open/or have a vented bonnet/or a rear bonnet lift kit
I run a carbon vented cover with no seal at all

The oe coils have a rubber skirt onto the cam cover anyway so they will be ok anyway. What are the Vag coils like for seals?

Good idea, i wouldn't worry about water too much then just do it with the engine hot and running so you will know if you get something wet that shouldnt be.

Update time!
OK so.. guys.. I am proud to announce that my 200 is boosting hard, working well and braking very well too.
I found the root cause of the issue. It was the HDev dump valve leaking off air!!!
I replaced it with a cheap ebay one for now and have a GFB Mach 2 recirc in the post.
Having got rid of all of my very small boost leaks the car boosts so hard now, it's amazing!!

So this wknd fixed the issue and then replaced the calipers (with refurbed items), brake lines all round (with HEL braided), new black diamond front pads and new front discs.
I also did and oil filter change @ 112536 miles.
I did an oil change just over 300 miles ago. Started by flushing with some good engine flush, then put in some cheap shell synthetic oil just to get rid of any remains of the flush.
Today I used the good stuff!! Fuchs Titan Pro S.
I shall let the pics do some talking..

Question. The HEL kit only came with 2 front 2 back. Is there something I can get to replace the hard lines that connect to the front caliper or should I leave it alone. The brakes do feel amazing already and they ain't even bedded in yet.

Oh I forgot to add. I greased up my coilovers.
Fitted a brand new brake pad fitting kit to the calipers and used ATE200 fluid.

Mine weren't I just got a braided replacement for the rubber hoses. So the hard line is still there from the braided line to the caliper. So are you saying it's supposed to be a longer one piece line from the caliper to the main hard line?

Have you measured them side by side to see if they are longer? All the braided lines I've seen including mine, go straight into the calliper and aren't on full lock

Little update. I booked a power run at Surrey rolling road for Saturday at 11. If anyone reading this is going to be there then give me a shout

Both the HEL set I just bought and my previous Driftworks braided lines just attach to the hard lines coming from the BMC, this is on an S13.

Yes.. But what about the caliper side? On the s14a it's a hard line from caliper to rubber hose. Then robber hose to hard line on the chassis (from bmc). I only got and changed the rubber bit. Technically it makes no difference at all. But it would have been good to change the hard lines in the light of the fact that they may one day corrode and fall apart.
